Product Description

Amazon.com

Do you have what it takes to survive the frog flippin' frenzy? In the Flippin' Frogs Game it's a flight for survival to launch and land as many of your frogs into the spinning tree as possible. But they better cling tight because there are crocodiles and piranhas circling the waters below, and when time runs out, the tree branches pop up.

Recommended for children ages 5 and up, this fun game for the whole family is designed for up to four players.

Simple Rules, Fun Plastic Shapes
The object of the game is simple: Be the player with the most frogs in the tree at the end of a round. Win three rounds, and you win the game. However, it's not as easy as it looks. The flexible, rubbery plastic frogs are shaped to hang easily from the tree branches, but when the branches pop up, these little amphibian friends tend to go flying.

The brown tree trunk and blue game base are made with a sturdy, durable plastic. The green branches are made lighter for extra spring when the frogs land -- and when time is up. The lily pad-shaped catapults work really well -- so well, in fact, they'll fly too if you don't hold them down with a finger.

Sound Effects Complete The Mood
As we tested the Flippin' Frogs Game, the sounds of chirping frogs and babbling water happily transported us back to a boggy marsh. The game takes a little bit of assembly, and while it's easy to tell what goes where, it's tough to attach the tree trunk into the game base. An adult might have to help snap the two pieces together.

If everything's set up right, the tree will start turning when the game is "on." Once set up, the game is a blast to play -- even alone, since practice makes perfect. When the time is almost up, a bell rings, alerting you to hurry up and get one last shot in. A piece of advice: Aim for tree top; it's the safest place. With electronic sounds and motion, this game requires three AA batteries (not included).

What's in the Box
Game includes 24 frogs, 4 launchers, 1 base, 1 tree trunk, 4 branches, 1 tree top, and 1 instructional sheet.

From the Manufacturer

In this wacky, whimsical game, players must use the Lily Pad Launchers to spring their frogs toward the rotating tree to see who stays and who falls. But watch out for the big POP - and see how many frogs drop! Whoever has the most frogs left in the tree wins that round. This hilarious game is a hoppin' and poppin' good time for kids. It includes 24 frogs, 4 launchers, base, tree trunk with tree top and 4 tree limbs and instruction sheet. Requires 3 AA batteries, not included.

We had the chance to play this game at a friends house. The friend was so excited to share her frog game and after watching our kids play the game we found out why. This is a really fun game of launch the frog. Anytime you little little kids flip things into the air it is a good time. It was not at all hard to flip the frogs as my three year old kept right along with his older brothers and our family friends daughter who is 6. My eldest one made this a rapid fire event rather than a planned launch. In all this is a good game that kept four kids laughing and busy for 20 plus minutes. The durability must be pretty fair as that the little girl has had this for a few weeks now and according to her mom she asks to play with it at least three times a week.
After we played at our friends house my three year old has been none stop talking and asking for the frog game. He even will go into explaining how you win the game and what happens to the frogs when they fall. A great game and at Amazons current price a great deal.

    Mattel Flippin' Frogs Game

My son is 5 and loves this game, we all play. It's made very well and he has no problem flipping the frogs. The more you play the more coordinated you become and that always helps with the competition especially when he can beat Dad. It's timed which keeps it exciting for them as well. BTW...if you have a problem with attaching the tree, holding the tree trunk, push hard on the tree to get it to snap into place and it will stay, it doesn't snap in as easy as you might think. A fun game for all, I would definitely recommend.

the game flippin frogs is a super fun game that we've played before.
I was super excited to get it for my kids for Christmas. it was one they could all play together. However when the game came we did not get four different colors of frogs so they could all play instead we got three different colors and the fourth was the same color as another. Dissapointed in that. The game itself is awesome!

I got this for my son age 6 for Christmas and do have to say this is a fun game for all ages. It's a fast paced game and lots of scurring to get your frogs on the tree and just when you think you got all of them on it stops and flips it's branches up and knocks some or all off. I did not think this would be that good after reading some reviews but I like it and we all have fun trying to flip the frogs and laugh when we hit someone or ourselves while flipping those little rubber guys.

My boys received this for Christmas in 2008, when they were three and six years old. It was an immediate hit, and they STILL love this game a year later.

To start the game you must push the tree trunk into the round game base. When you turn it on, the tree spins as frog and cricket sounds are heard. The sounds heighten in pitch just a bit when the tree is close to popping up. When it does, the four branches inserted on each side of the trunk pop upward as well, sending the frogs flying. Any frogs remaining on the tree count toward that player's total. The player with the most remaining frogs wins.

    The pros:

~ Plenty of soft, rubbery frogs in each color to give each player ample opportunity to get their frog on the tree

~ The tree branches pull out easily for storage

~ It's a great, quick game to play when you don't want to get into a long drawn out game like Chutes and Ladders, for example.

~ Flipping the frogs is great fun for all ages, and is more educational than one might initially think. It teaches kids about physics, albeit in a rudimentary fashion. Kids have to learn how far away to position the lily pad "launcher", how far down to hold it to create the maximum arc for the frog, and how quickly to release the pad to create the proper inertia. It also teaches kids about math and categorization -- the winner is determined by how many frogs of their color stayed on the tree after it pops up. So the kids have to count all the frogs of their own color at the end. Sure, with only 8 or so frogs in each color they aren't counting very high, but for the older kids you can throw some subtraction in there as well. For example, "Hey, you had six frogs on the tree but three fell off."

~ The kids love launching the frogs and watching the tree pop!

~ This was very easy for my 3 and 6 year olds to use (with the exception of pushing in the tree trunk, see below)

~ We have not found storage to be an issue. When we are finished playing we remove the four tree branches (they pull out easily enough) from the trunk, remove the trunk from the base, and store all of it in a gallon ziplok bag.

    Cons:

~ It is VERY difficult to push the tree trunk into the base. You have to get it just right and push down HARD to hear the click and get it to stay in. It often takes me several tries of pushing and turning just to get that trunk in. My now 7 and 4 year olds cannot do this on their own.

~ If you have kids with sensory issues, the frogs may be a bit of a temptation for chewing, since the material is a smooth rubbery material and frogs have tiny spheres on the tip of each toe. We have been lucky to only have had one froggie casualty in one year. Thankfully, his missing appendage does not affect the game play too much.

All in all, this is a great version of an old classic that I grew up on (Ants in the Pants). We'll be keeping this one for awhile.

I love this game very challenging, I play it with my 2 grandson and I can't get all the monkeys on the tree branches in time to beat the clock. Every time the branches pops up they start screaming in my ear because they think its funny that the monkeys are flying everywhere. Fun family game. Love that it puts a smile on the family faces when playing together!

My son played this in his preschool class, and all the kids in his class loved it. Asked for it for his b-day. Could only find it online. Great price to boot. Made his birthday even better. Kids ages 3 - 6 like it in our household.
