Costco Wholesale [costco.com] has the 3TB Seagate Backup Plus USB 3.0 External Desktop Hard Drive for $99.99 on Black Friday (Nov 22)
This is one of the best prices for a 3TB external hard drive. 3TB drives normally run for <a href="http://slickdeals.net/newsearch.php#firstonly=1&forumchoice%5B%5D=9&mode=all&q=seagate+3TB+external">around $120+</a>, so this is definitely a good deal.

I have had 5 drives fail: all Seagate.
in summation: The hard drive is fine, Enclosure is a piece of garbage that has no airflow.
Funny, I bought one of these tonight at the local Costco. The receipt checker person at the door told me I had to take the booklet to see it's $40 cheaper on Monday. It's item 669430; says "Limit qty 5", and "also available online".
I've got WD and Seagate, all working fine. I've been buying these 3TB hard drives for more than a year, plus 2TB and 1.5 and 1.0 before. The cases are not great. As for the unit I bought about 90 days ago, I removed one from its enclosure and installed it into my tower as an internal drive. Works great, very fast, not particularly warm. Doing an "erase free space" with Disk Utility, it goes at about 300MB/s which seems amazing. BTW it shows up as a model ST3000DM001-9YN166, and has usable capacity of 3,000,592,982,016 bytes. Maybe these are so cheap now because they'll have the 6TB models in time for Valentine's day.
;-)
im concerned with buying seagate as i bought one few months ago it failed.
