Mouse

The XPS One includes a radio frequency optical mouse with a traditional scroll wheel, which scrolls both horizontally and vertically. The mouse functions well and is responsive across the room from the system.

This mouse is powered by 2 AA batteries.

Dell has also included an XPS-branded mouse pad. Its surface is very smooth and more appropriate for a heavier mouse such as the one provided. When I tried using it with a much lighter mouse, the surface was too slick for my tastes. In the end, I decided to use my own mouse pad instead of the one provided by Dell.

Remote

No media PC is complete without a media center remote these days, and XPS One isn’t an exception. The layout of the remote is somewhat unusual compared to most remotes, but it it’s easy to get used to it. Strangely enough, not all the buttons on the remote light up when it is used. While the top section of the remote should be enough to control your PC in the dark, having all the buttons light up would be useful.
