SD Tips: Find the Best Hard Drives Deals

If you’re building a new computer, replacing an old hard drive or adding an additional hard drive to your current computer, you’ll quickly find that buying a hard drive is not as simple as it might seem. There are a lot of options to consider and price points can vary widely. We’ve put together all the best hard drive deals in one place though, so you can concentrate on your decision and not worry about finding the best price.

Solid state drives are taking over the market these days when it comes to hard drives, and for good reason. They’re extremely fast and very portable. If you’re looking for an SSD, size is going to be the biggest consideration, and you typically just want to go with the largest option you can afford. However, because solid state drives are better for snappy response time than for storing large files, you might want to consider a traditional hard drive disc if you plan on storing exceptionally large amounts of data, like photographers who shoot RAW images or folks who work with video files. If that’s the case, a traditional hard drive with several terabytes will be your best best. Of course, the best option might be to get both -- an SSD to boot your computer and an HDD to store your data.

Not surprisingly, you’ll often find the best selection and prices on computer components online. Newegg has great prices, helpful customer service and a wide selection. Amazon, also, has some of the best prices around on hard drives, though it doesn’t necessarily make it easy to find what you’re looking for or compare products in the way that Newegg does.
