SD Tips: Find the Best Entertainment Deals

It’s easy to break the bank on entertainment purchases. A simple trip to the movies with your family could run upwards of $70 if you’re not careful. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to save on things like movie tickets, music downloads, Blu-ray and DVDs, and even board games. Keep this page bookmarked to get all the current deals on entertainment purchases.

There are lots of ways to save on movie tickets, starting with where you buy them. Costco and Sam’s Club members can often get discounted tickets with their memberships, while many theaters have loyalty programs that give out discounts on snacks and tickets after you’ve spent a certain amount of money. Fandango offers similar discounts with their membership program as well. If you see everything that hits the theaters, it definitely pays to take advantage of these programs.

When it comes to buying DVDs and Blu-ray movies, check out Amazon and Best Buy for good deals, especially during Black Friday and the rest of the holiday shopping season. If you’re in the market for video games, Amazon and Best Buy are about equal on prices for new releases, but if you’re looking at older titles, check out used games from GameStop to find killer deals. November and December are the best time to buy video games, but you’ll find older releases are discounted a few months after updated games come out, so you could score a great deal.

If you’re looking for some good old fashioned family fun, stock up on board games during the holiday shopping season, as well as in January and February (as retailers are looking to sell off anything left over from the holidays.) Toys ‘R Us and Target are probably your best bet for board games.
