Historically the 275 load box has been on sale several times a year from between $8.99-$12. While this isn't a bad deal if you need some right now, I would wait to stock up on them when they really go on sale.

I currently have ten 275 load boxes left. Big Grin

Also, I think this detergent works great. I have been using it in my HE machine for over 2 years now and it works really well. Most of my family believes that laundry has a 'clean' smell from this detergent, even without fabric softener. I have done well over 1,000 loads of laundry with this detergent. (and still have about 2,900 loads worth of detergent left)

If it is clumping, you are probably either putting too much in. If you have a standard top loader you might be putting it in at the wrong time; put some in while the water is filling to let it mix up a bit or start the wash cycle on HOT to help the detergent dissolve, let it mix for a minute then put it back to your desired temperature.

This item DOES go on sale for lower than the current posted price, pretty frequently. See the screen shot I just posted for those who haven't been attentive to sale prices. Wink

This is the worst detergent I have ever used. It doesn't dissolve and clumps up and doesn't clean the clothes right. Sun brand soap from Walmart is better than this crap. Imo

I haven't used this so don't know first hand, but most of the reviews and consumer reports are very positive on this.

Consumer Reports rated 15th out of 52 products reviewed. They rated Sun 47th.

Hmmm....

Thanks for the pro tip on the historical pricing on the 275 load, I thought it was lower before too.

I bought 2 boxes of the orange one previously. I also read the good reviews so gave it a shot but I think the detergent is terrible. I didn't have a problem with clumping because I dissolved it before adding clothes based on reviews. My laundry smelled as if I had washed it with just water. Don't think they were any cleaner either. Not very pleasant. I now have 1.9 boxes of that detergent I wont use and went back to tide.

I've purchased the orange box in the past. It does clump and it doesnt leave your laundry with the fresh smell and brightnes of a Tide wash, but for me it has it's place. I use the "good stuff" on my clothes (especially the darks...never use this, it "mottles" the color) but I often have dog beds, cleaning towels, or pet throws that are washed frequently but don't need to be super clean/sparkly and this does the trick. Hot water, soak cycle, add a little of the scent booster if you really need it and it does just fine. I can't imagine how it rated so high - it's not that great and I bought it really wanting to love it.

Works perfectly and is fantastic for the price, especially at the sub-$10 price point for the 275-load box.

Anyone who says this doesn't work properly just doesn't know how to use powder detergent. You're supposed to turn on the washer first, allow some water to fill the drum, then dump this into the water. Then place your clothes in on top. I have never, ever had clumpy detergent using this method.

Yeah... I guess that is "the internet"... Smilie

Anyway, as freeship works, I bought one big box,
used 13400 lingering points and 9 cents to DI card.

earned 5 points !!

I have a pretty new LG HE washer which has a dispenser with a cup insert for liquid detergent which is supposed to be removed for powder. But I've never used powder in it. Not sure how it would work to be honest.
