MB's deals all depends. If you have Hannaford in your area, I find them cheaper than Market Basket for quite a bit of things and about the same price for many more things. More particularly, I've seen Market Basket have very high health and beauty prices and I pay $1 less per item on everything I buy in this dept at Hannaford vs what I would pay at Market Basket. Of course, Market Basket has their deals too, such as their $3.99 rotisserie chickens. But I've found it all averages out in the end and there are many ways I find Hannaford better. I never have to wait 20 minutes plus in line to get out during peak days like the day before Thanksgiving at Hannaford, versus I always find Market Basket doesn't keep the lines moving as well as Hannaford in my area. Plus, the quality in bakery (I agree Market Basket is lower but Hannaford definitely has more and better selection), meat (same thing here too), deli (everything is always fresher at Hannaford), and produce (same thing here too) are all better. Plus, Hannaford is all around a much cleaner store. Sometimes I may go to Stop and Shop or Shaws for few item stops in which I know I will get a good price and many times you can find something in these stores for much lower than you would ever pay at Market Basket. Many times I do walk out of the store feeling like I got a great deal vs what I would pay at MB or Hannaford since I wouldn't pay like $.89 for a cucumber, which is what Shaws charges, when I know that same cucumber goes for $.59 at Hannaford and I want 6 of them. Plus, I know that these store are much less likely to have a huge line vs Market Basket because of self checkout and have what I am looking for in stock. |

Wow! The Hannaford near me is waaaaaaaaay overpriced for no double coupons! Definitely more than Market Basket!!
I too am sorry not to see the thread more active, but fact is, I use MB more these days for the items I can't get deals on at the other local stores. I'd never buy health and beauty at MB or Hannaford with all the deals at WAGS, Rite Aid and CVS, unless it was a one-off emergency purchase. love love love Market Basket!!!!

What I'll get before this week ends...
I haven't gotten into MB yet this week, but here are some things I like. MB Amercian Cheese $1.99/lb - this is the rock bottom sale for this. At this price I buy the whole 5lb brick and divide and freeze. This price hasn't been around in well over a year, but about 6 weeks ago it was back. I'm well-stocked, but thought I'd list it anyway. Foxy romaine hearts for $1.50 Cottonelle 24pk for $4.99 plus a Q... hope they aren't out of stock! Frozen Fish Fillets for $3.99/lb - I get haddock and more expensive fish when it is at this price. MB hotdog rolls $.99 for 8. Just spent $1 at shaws this week, but want to get some in the freezer. MB grape jelly for $.99 - that's my stock up price. green beans for $.89 baby carrots for $.99/lb Happy warm spring weekend! Let's all scan the MB flier this weekend and see what we can find for next week!

Sorry I haven't been keeping up on this thread, unfortunately, not only did they stop updating the website with new circulars, but then it seems like that they took the website down entirely!
Really staggering in this day and age that a multi billion dollar retailer does not even have a website for its customers. |
