wave Welcome to the Market Basket Thread wave

We would like to thank misterchimpy for starting the Market Basket grocery store thread and for helping those users get the best deals at Market Basket despite their lack of web presence. This has helped to save users in MA + NH a lot of $$$ at Market Basket and give them an idea for what deals to look for.

Thread Rules
1) Anyone can work in the wiki.
2) Disagreements are a part of life, discuss them civilly please.
3) If someone does something to offend you (me included), or mentions wrong coupon use, don't throw them under the bus in the thread. Public ridicule is uncool! Politely mention the correct way or PM the person and settle it there.
4) Minor OT is fine (and fun!), but let's not get too excessive.
5) Coupon requests and trades are fine with me as long as they follow SD guidelines.
6) If you have a blog and use any info from the wiki and/or thread, of if you procure info from another site and post it here, please give credit and thanks where credit and thanks is due.

A) Please see this post from misterchimpy about a brief overview of what Market Basket is all about and their lack of web presence.

B) Please see this post for the history of them suing each other. OMG

Ongoing Unadvertised Deals
Here's the place to add things that are just good deals. Please post the date you found the deal. If you notice that a deal has ended, please post that as a comment. Once confirmed, we'll remove it from the list.

rotisserie chicken 3.99 (regular price!)
MB American cheese (deli) 2.99/lb (regular price!)
Pepito Corn Tortillas(in refrigerated section) .99-$1 peelie=FREE

Remember: MB often has multi-week sales but only advertises them during one ad. So the sale may be for three weeks and advertised in the second week but not the first or second. This makes it appear the sale started early or ended late. Weekly sales are often turned on Saturday (or sale prices posted and thus honored) so don't be afraid to look for deals before or after you see them in the ad.

COUPON ALERT
Be on the look out in store for the following manufacturer and store coupons.

- Save $1 when you buy any two cans Lucky Leaf Pie Filling exp 12/31/11
-$1/2 Pillsbury items (any maybe) peelies, cake mix is 1.19

Coupon Policy
MB does not have an official coupon policy-or not one they are willing to admit to. The bare minimum we have figured out is that they:
do take insert coupons
do take printable coupons
do take coupons for free items
do take bogo coupons
do not accept expired coupons
do take a MB coupon and a manufacturer coupon for the same item unless excluded (please read fine print on coupons for exclusions)
do not give overage-coupons are redeemed for face value only
do need to know if the coupon needs adjusting-register will lock up if $1 coupon is scanned for .99 item and require manager override

No, I did my shopping yesterday and went back over my receipt and there were no amazing deals to note. I had a printable for $1.10/2 Old ElPaso which could get you some very cheap seasoning mixes. I needed refried beans though so got them. Made them about $.50-.60 a can. They didn't have any Marcal TP, so couldn't use that Q. My best score was some marked down produce, that's it!

YES!!!! Smilie

I just got back from my Market Basket, went up to Customer Service to confirm I could use the printed internet coupons. I used the printed Yoplait coupons (each has a unique serial code) to buy 6-packs of Yoplait Trix Yogurt. They are on sale for $2 each this week and the coupons were for $1.50 off!!

You can get those coupons here in the Wiki:

Nothing free that I got, but did notice a deal - the Airwick Luminaire is $4.99 and there were $5 MCs in a previous insert. Ben & Jerry's went up in price to $3.29, so had to pay for the two pints I got. No Marcal TP in my store either, though they had it last week. They do have Marcal Tissues, called fluffs or fluff outs or something like that for $1.09.

Every time I go down that aisle looking for the Marcal TP, I always look and I've never seen them carry tissues. Hmmm... Maybe I'm looking for the wrong thing. Does the box actually say Marcal on it, or do you have to know that's the brand?

Intersting but I don't see it listed on Couponmom. Was it in one of those 'special/odd' inserts that are not listed there? Thanks.

NM. Found it. It is spelled differently there. So if anyone else is looking for the Q it is spelled Lumin Air and it is in the 12/7 S.

You have to look really closely to find the Marcal label on these. They are the smaller squarish size boxes and are $1.09 at the MB I shop at.

That's Market Basket for you! They haven't quite made it into the 21st century yet, have they? So retro, but they don't realize it and aren't trying to be. laugh out loud

Thanks for the flier! Planning my week shortly.

Here are a few matchups I saw... nothing spectacular unless you use the stuff anyway.

Sunsweet prunes, apricots etc. (page 2) $1/2 in 11/9 Smartsource
Arm&Hammer Essentials is $2 - $1 Q in 12/14 Smartsource, making it a buck.
Scotties tissues are $1.50 - there is a $1/5 Q in a bunch of RP inserts
Scotch Brite sponges 6 pack is $3.99 - $1 Q in the MarkBasket Winter Savings booklet
Hunt's canned Tomateos are $1 - $1/3 printable here [startmakingchoices.com]

Not much, but maybe it will help someone. Stay warm!!
