No longer showing new posts icon

In the past couple of days, whenever I check the fora, I'm no longer getting the little icon to denote that a thread has new posts. Any suggestions?

Try clearing your cookies?

do you have your browser to have you login automatically? if so check to make sure you get logged in each time. its the only thing i can think of just off hand.

I agree with itsnotspam, you have to be logged in for the system to determine what the last post is in each thread that you have seen

I'm logged in when it happens, and I cleared cookies. Earlier today I get the little icon. Now, I don't.

If you're timing out, the system will clear all threads as if you have read them. If you log in and wait 15 mins or so, then all threads will appear read, and your User CP will be empty (unless it's during peak posting hours).

Ok, more details. I visited the forums today at about 6PM local time. Again around 9pm. At 6, naturally there were lots of threads with new posts. At 9, there were none, in any forum. At the top right of the screen, where it shows the time you had last visited, it showed the current time, not 6pm. Currently it is showing 9:02 PM, which would be correct.

I think the problem's with your cookies, or your browser's cookie-handling. Check your cookies, and your browser's exclusions and block settings for:

• slickdeals.net
• forums?.slickdeals.net
• *.dealauthority.com

Also, try using a different browser for a couple days.

OK, now that I've said that, I think I take it back. You see, after publicly attributing blame somewhere, I have experienced the same problem. I visited the site and all's well. I read a few threads, make a post or two. Then I visit my User CP, and it's COMPLETELY empty; not even my new post shows up. Within the next few minutes, however, new (bold) threads appear at the top of each forum, the way things should be.

I now officially blame the system for some kind of intermittant, pseudo-random log-out phemonenon.

BTW, using Firefox 1.04. No sites are in my exclusion list for cookies.

That was gonna be one of my questions. It sounds kind of like something FF would to. Try it in IE and see what happens.
