We have them here in AZ too and I LOVE them! In order to keep the freshest items on the shelf, they discount items daily. And even the "old" items are still very fresh. You can get some great bargains, plus they have $5 off $20, and $6 off $30 coupons that come regularly in the papers and mail. The Fresh and Easy brand items are competitively priced and even organic items are reasonably priced. The ready to eat meals have all been great too. It's such a convenient store to get in and out of, and even though all the checkouts are self-serve, I've always had somebody there to help bag items, and the employees are very friendly. My only wish is that they would accept manufacturers coupon.
Fresh & Easy just opened in my area. They have coupons galore for $5.00 off a minimum $20 purchase. It's a great deal. The trick is to keep the purchase as close to $20 as possible. This way you get full value (25%). I've read that some folks use two or more coupons at checkout. They split a big purchase into $20 segments in order to get $5 off each $20 they spend. The checkouts are self-serve, so I guess nobody hassles them over this.
F & E offers lots of prepared packaged food, such as chicken tenders, beef dishes, salads etc. When this stuff is close to the expiration date, it's marked a whopping 50% off!
Eggs are cheap. One dozen JUMBO eggs = $1.80.
They sell Taurino beer, a house brand. Bottles and cans. It's pretty good beer. Right now an 18 pack = $6.99.
I think F & E is a great little store. The prices are right. It's sort of a hybrid between a big supermarket and Trader Joe's. But, I've read they're not doing as well as expected since starting in 2007. Hope things get better for them.
Just got the flyer and there are some great deals out there this week!
$1.44/lb for 80/20 ground beef
$.99 26oz Ragu Pasta Sauce
$2.09 for 1% or 2% Gallon of Milk
$1.99 14 oz Cheese or Pepperoni Pizza (fresh)
$.98 Produce is 3 Pears, 1lb Lemons, or 2lbs Yellow Onions
The rest of the store is really economical. It is not hard to find great deals there!
Their fresh foods are terrific!!! Staff at the store were super friendly and you can even sample their products in the store at the tasting station. I have tried several of the Fresh & Easy branded foods and am a big fan of the Poke, Red Thai Chicken Curry, and the Chocolate Chip Cookies. My boyfriend loves the Taurino beer. Great taste and great price.
Coupons are for newer stores only now. Although the checkouts are not manned, the staff have always helped me bag my groceries.
I also heard they have a Shop for Schools program. Schools close to Fresh & Easy locations can sign up to get money for each $20 receipt (or more). Found the link about that program too : http://www.freshandeasy.com/shopForSchools.aspx.
I'm with you on this, Socalchick! I find my self wandering into Fresh & Easy more often than not. The 50% off section is my first stop in the store. You can get some great bargains there. And, they sometimes have a huge portable rack full of half-off bread/bakery items. Can't beat it. The flyer specials are great. Even their regular prices are pretty damn good. My store has nine self-serve checkouts. It's so expedient. I never have to wait in line.
One bad thing: It looks like the $5 off $20 coupons are history. Now they have $6 off $30 coupons, so the deal isn't quite as good as before. Being single, I don't think I'll be using those too much. Still, they may come in handy occasionally.
I love their gelato.... picked up some NY steak for $3.99 per lbs last Sunday! 98 cent produce is awesome too!
I went for the $1.44 ground beef 80/20 - one pound packs! Cooked up some wonderful big burgers on my George Foreman grill. In the past, I've always bought those frozen hamburger patty packs, but they got TOO expensive. This is actually the first time I cooked fresh ground beef on my Foreman. I can't believe the difference in taste and texture. No more frozen patties for me!
I don't think these coupons are going to continue. I do have hope that if you sign up as a Friend of Fresh & Easy, they may send out email coupons. You get a coupon for a canvas bag when you sign up.
I still find myself getting out for less than $20 without coupons. Check those daily specials too for 1/2 off items.
I received a $10 off $50 email as "a Friend of Fresh & Easy" just before the Superbowl, as well as the canvas bag one when i initially signed up. That was the only one since they stopped posting the online ones that linked from the front page of their website.
