ROFLMAO from another board:

Re: Free Grand Slam at Denny's Tuesday Feb 3 Quote

Every lazy welfare loser will be lined up with their 8 kids....f--- that! I feel sorry for the poor waitresses and cooks that day.
Quoting: Anonymous

Donít worry about us cooks that day. We have a few games we play with the food when we prepare it.. The waitresses play also especially with loud mouths complaining about slow service etc. And donít worry about welfare recipients, they dont even awake till 9..

The Denny's on Watson in Crestwood, MO had a huge line. Full parking lot so I'll head back around 10:30am and check it out.

Some Dennys might not serve Obama?

Denny's Restaurants, which operates more than 1,400 restaurants nationwide, has agreed to a settlement with the U.S. Justice Department regarding allegations of discrimination against Black customers, but a class-action suit by 32 Black California customers continues to dog the chain.

Denny's denied the charges, but agreed to the settlement with the Justice Department, which charged in its lawsuit that Denny's and its parent company, TW Services, Inc. of Spartanburg, S.C., "treat Black customers less favorably than White customers and discourage Black persons from visiting their restaurants."

As part of the settlement, Denny's agreed to train its employees and managers against racial discrimination and to hire a civil rights monitor. The chain also agreed to notify all its employees and managers of its policy of non-discrimination, and to post notices in restaurants, menus and newspaper ads. The company will also include at least 25 percent identifiable non-Whites, including at least 20 percent Blacks, in its television and newspaper ads and promotional fliers.

The settlement doesn't affect the class-action suit filed on behalf of the Black customers. Those customers allege in part that Denny's: required Black customers to pay a cover charge in order to be seated; required Black customers to pay in advance for meals; refused to serve Blacks; refused to honor its free "Birthday Meal" offer to Blacks; and subjected Black patrons to racially derogatory and inflammatory remarks and threatened and/or forcibly removed Black customers.

"This is Jim Crow discrimination," said California attorney Mari Mayeda, who represents the 32 Black customers. "It is reminiscent of segregated lunch counters in the Deep South of the 1950's. It is appalling that African Americans are being subjected to such offensive treatment in California family restaurants in the 1990's.

Denying that there was any pattern of racial discrimination, Chairman and CEO Jerome J. Richardson of TW Services, Inc., parent of Denny's, issued a statement that said: "Our agreement with the Justice Department is an affirmation of our commitment to treating all customers fairly and we intend to go even further with our own programs.

"Because collecting damages for the customers who have suffered egregious discrimination is outside the purview of the Justice Department, the customers' suit against Denny's will continue," said Ms. Mayeda. "People who believe they have information about incidents of racial discrimination should call 1-800-777-0442."

Just got back from bfast in Rochester, MN. Got there a little bit after 6, only had a 5 minute wait. Staff has it pretty well managed, but the wait is about 1/2 hour now due to the influx of high school students trying to get bfast before school... $3.04 for coffee, hashbrowns, and a grand slam!

The coupons books have:

25% off bfast (1 for Feb, 1 for March)
BOGO Lunch in Feb, 25% off Lunch in March
BOGO Dinner in Feb, 25% off Dinner in March
Free pancake puppies when buying bfast (1 for Feb, 1 for March)

They're only doing one per check, so get 2 checks or ask the person at the pay stand to get another, that's what I did!

I get off work at 7am and headed over there. There was a long line out the door, about a 45 min wait. I started going up the line asking if anyone knew about the rain checks and people thought I was crazy. I could even hear people talking about me like "wtf, why would they give rain checks on food, what an idiot!" I made my way inside and had to wait like 2 mins to ask the manager and he said "How many do you want?" I asked for 3 (one for my friend I went with, one for me, and one for my wife that work Smilie I walked out with the rain checks with a smile on my face cause the idiots were the ones that waited the 45 mins and called me the idiot. I r teh win.

i made eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes at home. then i went outside and waited in the rain until it got cold. i came back in and lit 10 cigarettes and got some fans so they would all blow on me at once while i ate.

it was absolutely fabulous and almost authentic

i also made up some fake coupons for myself that i will never use. i was very pleased to get them.

It's pure insanity apparently...DH works really close to one, office building accross the street. Messing up the inflow of traffic even.

It's been on all the local news and on our home page when we got online for our local newspaper.

Of course, we went through something 'similar' with 20 cent tacos back a month ago...people were actually waiting over an hour for those. When I saw the superbowl ad for Denny's I knew it would mean even more insanity.

I'm back. I don't know, this was a free breakfast but I feel sort of jipped.

The total came to $2.12 because I got a Coke - wow, $2 for a Coke??? Maybe they charge you tax on the meal as well?

I left a $2 tip because it didn't look like anyone else was leaving one. Total was $4.12. The meal was definitely worth $4.12, but not "get up an hour early and wade through the crowds."

This deal is worth it you don't leave a tip and get a water. Two things I despise. *EDIT* Not saying you should'nt leave a tip - I'm saying this is barely worth it if you do both of those. */EDIT*

The welfare crowd was already out there - complaining that the *regular* Grand Slam comes with grits or something, and this one should too, and how it's not fair that they don't do this until later than 2 PM, and that under no circumstances should they not offer the meal TO GO so they can go put it in their car and get back in line.
