These look like monster-sized candy bars and can be enjoyed as is, or used to create chocolate covered fruits, nuts, etc.
If you order online as a "click and pull" item, you may want to follow up with a call to specify white or double chocolate, otherwise it's the luck of the draw (Ghiradelli's double chocolate is great and their white is nothing short of superb!)
In answer to "are they the same standard as eating chocolates".. an emphatic YES! We first tried these large bars last year (was down to $1.81 then), and enjoyed most of it right off the bar. We aren't candy chefs, but it sure tasted fine to us "right off the bar" (as good as any stuff we sampled right at Ghiradelli's in San Francisco). Whatever difference, if any, seems to be the ability to easily microwave it if you wanted to dip stuff, instead of having to use a double boiler and strict temp monitoring to achieve correct consistency.
For those who do want to try their hand at "dipping" fruits, nuts, etc with this chocolate, it's a super simple process: just heat the chocolate in the microwave (as directed) and dip, drizzle, drench, or coat as desired. Decorate the dark stuff by drizzling with white (use a fork) for even more panache!
