DO NOT ADD THIS DISCOUNT UNLESS YOU HAVE NEW SERVICE! AS OF 3/1 YOUR CONTRACT WILL BE RENEWED FOR 2 YEARS WHEN YOU ADD THE DISCOUNT!

This is confirmed to work, Tmo has started discounts that NOW range from 10-15% on Universities, STUDENTS are also eligible. Unfortunately they require you to walk in to a corporate store and have them call it in.

So far universities confirmed; please refer below to the wiki. Thanks to all those who updated it.

Okay so i talked to a friend who works for T-mobile, and I asked him most of the questions you guys had:

1. If you are an authorized user, have the owner of the account call Tmo and add you as an authorized account changer/handler. This will let you make changes. While I officially condemn this: some people have called Tmo pretending to be the account owner, and just give them a University ID# and have gotten this to work. Usually a B&M will save you hassle of faxing in confirmation if you get a hard rep.

2. If you cannot see the discount after adding it: don't worry it takes about 45 days to show up.

3. Your billing cycle will change: this will also cause pro-rated charges.

4. Yes you can apply the discount to Family plans.

5. Look at your bill-- surprisingly even add-on services receive this 15% discount.

6. CALL March 1st and get your $49.99 Unlimited Single Line and $89.99 2 LINE FAMILY PLAN changed on your account. This in conjunction with the 15% off will save you tremendous amounts!

And lastly I hope I am not violating any policy by saying this: Thanks for all the reps!

T-mobile Store near OSU in Columbus OH, they have a special $50 credit for students, basically you get the tmo pricing including rebates and all +15% discount +$50 credit on your bill+ free activation

I am a student on a family plan and not the person paying the bills. I was able to get it according to the CSR I talked to.. it may be because I am listed as an authorized user.

**aznkuo: I'm listed as an authorized user and I couldn't get the deal when I called in because I wasn't primary. So it's really YMMV depending on the CSR.

Confirmed: You can do it over the phone but YMMV when doing it over chat.

Use this link for live chat. Got it done within 5 minutes.

http://www.t-mobile.com/corpdiscount (make sure you are logged out of MyTmobile before clicking and logging in)
^Click "Contact Business Care" and then go to live chat

^I used this link to get directly to the live chat

***Need confirmation: My chat rep told me that she couldn't apply the discount to my plan because it's not a current plan listed on their website.

Use the Freelancers union (node name: Working Today, Inc.) 10% discount if your school is not a part of the list for discount. (link below for details and thread)

What is the confirmation that this works? And how exactly does the discount take effect...

You go into a TMo corporate store and present your student ID and then they call in and get the 15% discount for you?!

If so, sign me up Big Grin

If you sign up for the student advantage card thingy, you can get a 12% discount whether or not your school has an agreement with T-Mobile. It all goes through T-Mob's corporate volume discount program, a company, institution, or organization makes an agreement with them, and then all of its employees, members, students are eligible for service and hardware discounts. Anyway, if your school doesn't have an agreement, the student advantage thing is the easiest way to get a discount. Unfortunately, the card is pretty much useless other than that in my experience.

Maybe I can help you with your question bmcclure. When I went to receive the discount, they asked me not only for my ID, but also for a code. It's usually ....TMOFAV with four digits in front. That's how it is with the UC schools at least.

It should... I think you can check here: https://my.t-mobile.com/Login/?rc...fault.aspx

I don't have t-mobile, so I can't check to be sure.

This is true.....I actually just had it done last night after hearing about it from other students (I am part of the University of Texas system). I just called tmobile and they asked me for 3 things: 1) Student ID# 2)School Website 3)Office Number (they said this was to verify my status so I gave them the Number for Student Affairs). I got 15% off.

So you're saying you didn't have to go into actual B&M store? Did you dial the 611 tmobile number?

Correct, I dialed 611 and after explaining what I wanted was transferred to whichever division handles it. Took about 5 minutes.
