We've had Aldi's here for about 20 years or a little longer. They've come a long way since then! Their products are pretty darn good if not better in some cases compared to "name brand" stuff. I grew up "Warren Buffet" style. (Upper Class but thrifty as it makes little sense not to be) I've continued this tradition in my own parenting. Shop at Aldi's - send child to $15K/yr elementary school.
Also, Aldi is from Germany and its HUGE. It's one of the main reasons why Wal-Mart closed up there. ∆T∆ |

Here are some of the products we buy regularly that we enjoy.
Their brand of Chex Mix, I believe it is Clancy's. Bags of mini Rice Cakes Frozen bag of souther style chicken. EXCELLENT! General Tso's and rice family size entree 8oz cheese blocks. French Toast sticks are a HUGE hit with my 4yo daughter. I will probably think of more. I love how this store operates. I rarely see more than two cashiers working at any time, but you never wait long to check out. The dump the groceries in one cart, pust it to the side, and grab your cart and get it ready for the next customer. I have never had a problem finding boxes to use instead of bags. No pimpled teenage boys slowly gathering carts around the parking lot. I love this store so much I have even considered applying for their manager trainee position. |

Aldi's is a GREAT place for produce. I don't go often (30+ miles away), but when I'm headed in that direction, I try to stop in.
I was getting large green peppers 3 for 99c, bananas 25c/lb, apples 20c EACH apple (equivalent to about 20-35c/lb), whole head cauliflower for 99c-$1.25. I LOVED their chicken sausage with sun dried tomatoes and basil (already cooked, low carb, relatively low fat), but I haven't been able to find it anymore. I used to buy all the store had (4 or 5 pieces in a package) when I found them. Froze them individually and then used them with zucchini for a low carb stir fry at least twice a week for supper.

I stopped at a store today but could not find the "donut store blend". Is it located with all the other coffee? Thanks! |

Have to agree with above. Most of their prices are great. Especially for those things tht don't seem to go on sale/or have coupons (i.e. baking soda, marschinocherries) Love their frozen fruit bars, french toast sticks, solid white tuna, and froz. ready to bake strudel. Bringing your own bags isn't such a big deal anymore since I started using reusable bags. Watch for the tasty German cookies/cakes around Christmas.

I
Aldi as well! They've had one here forever. I'd go there more often, but it's not in the greatest area of town. So I just go during the day, would never venture there at night. DH is pretty picky about quality and he's never been disappointed. We get their flour tortillas, canned beans (the chili beans are really good), oatmeal, and fresh produce (among other things, of course). Thanks for this thread! You've reminded me I need to get back out to ALDI! |

I just thought of something else - their Sloppy Joe mix and canned apricots are both cheap and quite good. Cranberry sauce too!
Peace is a daily, a weekly, a monthly process, gradually changing opinions, slowly eroding old barriers, quietly building new structures. And however undramatic the pursuit of peace, the pursuit must go on. John Fitzgerald Kennedy |
