Thread Details

Be gentle, as this is my 1st actual "deal" post.

If anyone is looking for windows, and wants Andersens from Home Depot here's the deal:
Starting Thursday (04-02-09) Andersen itself is srating 10% off their own windows at the Home Depot. The sales manager at my local HD could not tell how long this would last, but said they are usually very short (only few days).

Here's the full potential of this deal:
10%off from Andersen
+
10% off from Home Depot (coupon, or sign up for HD credit card)
+
30% off at the end of the year through tax rebate/return (have to pick specific windows to qualify, and up to $1500 rebate in total)
=
about 43% off at the end of the day!
(example: $350 window becomes a $200 window @ the end of the year).
(on the spot, you get about 18.5% off..$350 window becomes $285)

My HD manager said there is no reason why they could not combine the Andersen and Home Depot discounts, as they are completely separate. Both 10%s are taken off at the point of sale. The tax rebate shouldn't need explanation - ask them for details when you go.
Don't know if this is regional or national so for now this is YMMV.
My location is Old Bridge, NJ.
I gotta buy 18 windows....so the timing couldn't be any better!
Good luck and hope this helps someone out.

Searched for "Andersen" and found nothing, so WTLW can bite me. Stick Out Tongue
Please edit/correct/etc this information as you see fit.

Hmmm... I've got three more windows to replace. Might be time to pick them up. I'll have to see if this deal is available in my area. Thanks!

Keep in mind that only certain models with options will qualify for tax refund/rebate.
Choose wisely and ask them for details.
(ie.: double-hungs can't just be 'standard'....must take tilt wash double hungs with "Sunsmart" low-E glass in order to qualify for the stimulus rebate).

Also, if you have a CC with some % back, or points, etc it will make the deal even better (a couple of hundred extra on a few thousand dollar purchas ejust for using a card ain't bad).

You are correct, make this deal even slicker using a Discover card and get 5% cashback reward. Sweeten the deal even more by checking with your local gas company for rebates. Here in New York, the gas company (National Grid) gives a $10 rebate per window for energy star compliant windows.

IIRC, I believe the Andersen 400 series meets the criteria. The 200 series does not.

This is a YMMV, as my Home Depot will not allow the 10% Lowes coupon to be used with the other discount of 10% that they were offering at the time for windows.

Manager didn't seem to care that he lost a $10,400 order because of another 10% coupon.

I still have yet to order windows..... Mad

Does anyone know if the coupon in the moving kit at the post office is for Lowes or Home depot.. I know it is for a percentage of something off...

It's Lowes, but most HDs will take them since they're not printed copies (too easy to edit those). If you really want to argue it, I believe it's company policy, however some managers are just jerks...there's a reason they're managing a big bog retail store.

Um...this was definitely not the 'slickdeals' user that posted this...is this part of the April fools joke?

Military members and Retirees that possess an ID card always get 10% off at both HD and Lowes. Show your card and it's done, very easy.

Check your local government agencies or utilities for further info! Ours is an addition $3 per square foot of window.

Even better...use your rewards credit card to buy HD GIFT CARDS at a vendor that offers some promo.

Giant Eagle in my area gives 20 cents off per gallon of gas for every $50 in GC you buy. They sell HD GC. Buy $1500 worth with your rewards credit card and get the $6.00 off per gallon of gas. Should give you 3 free fillups plus your normal rewards credit card incentive.
