Anyone seen a coupon for the digital caliper? I know i can use the 25% on the 6 inch composite caliper but i am looking at the steel version for cheaper then the 25% can get it right now so less then 15.
J - good for you, I didn't have time this time to try it but I was curious to see if anyone bothered either n the store or online
Yes, that was a good thing to try. I can usually stop by on my way home.
The other score I did recently was an open-box sale. I usually don't see anything useful on the table or shelf where they have this stuff.
Although a couple of years ago, I picked up the 18V circular saw on sale. I didn't realize (stupidly didn't read the box) that it did not have the battery and charger included with it. I was already on the job, so I just used alligator clips to hook it to the terminals of another 18V battery I already had. I debated about returning it after I was done, but I seldom can force myself to do that with any tool.
So I thought when I got this 18V drill, which did include the battery, I could use it also with the circular saw. Little did I notice (again, stupid) that the Chicago Electric "brand" used a different battery than the DrillMaster.
So yesterday I was in there and just happened to look at the open box shelf and saw one of the same 5 1/4 circular 18V saws on the return shelf, just like mine. Then behind it I saw the battery and charger. The stupid battery "retails" for 24.99 and the charger (separate, no less!) retails for 19.99. That's like $45 for the pair, and even on sale they are usually $15 + $10=$25. So I took the charger, which was marked open at 4.99 up to the register and it rang up with my 25% off, for like $3.75. I stashed the battery behind some other junk on the shelf, and went there after work and it was still there, also marked down to 4.99. I was worried the charger might have been bad, but the cashier, who knows me well, said that the guy who had just bought the saw and entire package had just returned it, not because it didn't work, but just because he decided to get something else. So she said it probably worked fine.
She told me at that night that she could not combine the 25% with the open box price, and I said I was fine with that. But she did it anyway, probably because the manager was within earshot.
So I got them both for about $7.50, and I figure that's well worth the deal. Unfortunately that is the only tool I have that uses that battery, but that little saw did work well on some small projects, and was light to carry and easy to hold.
