Official Gamers Lounge Etiquette

Well, I've seen enough honestly. I got my say out in that last post in the Bioshock/Jonas thread.

I don't mind rules, look at the regular lounge and the store threads in the coupon section. I've never had a problem there, people are a lot more civil and actual discussions can take place.

At first [about two or three weeks ago] I was trying to just debate with rockdave, but it quickly grew out of hand as it got worse, and worse, and worse. It reached "critical mass" about a day ago and I truly regret letting him get the best of me

but there's somethings I just can't stand, feeling "better" than others for any reason, especially when you can't even back it up, is just ignorant. Yeah, if you play online and you're higher on the leaderboard than me, talk it up all you want, but that's just a game..I'm pretty sure in real life [outside the game] we can see ourselves as equals

but intelligence, money, race, talent, none of that is something you go parading around like it makes you worth more than somebody.

And in the end, in all the time I've lurked and occasionaly posted in this gaming forum, I have NEVER seen that sort of attitude. I've seen all sorts of discussions about gaming here, but I've never seen anything remotely close to how this whole rockdave thing started anyways.

What set me off on getting on his case was the way he CONSTANTLY would say that he brought intelligence and discussion to this gaming forum, he constantly said that all we talked about was "what are you playing this weekend" or some useless post..and that made me mad, because I know some of you are good friends to each other on here, and I've always enjoyed reading the forum...which I find a lot more entertaining and informative than even full on forums about gaming.

On top of that, he constantly reminded us he was posting to egg us on, to study "mob mentality" or some psychology thing he was working on...so it's just like every thing he did was just to laugh at us or mock us.

So, yeah, if someone wants to set up some rules, set them up, because I'm sure most of us [including myself] can go by them without even thinking about it, as long as certain people don't act a certain way.

There's a rumor that if you wait to buy a game the price goes down (or was it up?)... we could talk about that.

That's brilliant. Next thing you know, I'll start to play my demos before buying the game. I always thought you were supposed to beat the whole game and then play the demo so you wouldn't fight the controls and you'd be uber good at the demo. That'd make the demo so much better.
