Northern and Central California Grocery Store Deals Thread

I found April Fresh ideas Mag [tonytantillo.com] at Safeway today. This is the first time I have seen one! Got quite a few.

I also found a few of the dental/oral pamphlets at RA today that someone mentioned in RA thread.

I forgot to mention this the other day... the Tastee Basmati from Gross Out is really GROSS!
The uncle ben's is light and fluffy but the Tastee was really pasty. For the extra 10c a pack I paid for the Uncle Ben's I considered it money well spent

Also can someone break this strawberry deal down for me "Hooked on Phonic's Style" i feel like I'm not getting it but I'm not familiar with the J4U term either

Oh I also forgot to mention this....
When I was on my trip around NorCal I noticed the Propel Zero Bottles were on Rollback at Walmart for .58c there were $1.00/2 Q's in the 2/13 and 1/13 SS's (I don't have any but they were there none the less)
With the Q it brings it down to .08c a bottle plus CRV and that's a pretty great price if it's something people drink

I think that Safeway has caught the glitch though.I just got back and it didn't work, no J4U pricing no discount.I guess it was a good thing I forgot my wallet at home My teen son sat in the car while I ran in, and when I got back in the car he asked me why I looked so sad

OMGosh.. now I feel really bad that you did not get it I just did it at around 3pm today. Were you able to get it at all (at least one time)? I hope it was not a one time thing and I ruined it for you

Okay.. now that I am COMPLETELY hooked on Safeway how often does the JFU personal pricing change?! or does it? I know I can go to the SF thread, but it just seems soooo overwhelming to me

My FIRST trip to SW with the JFU did NOT work out so well though for some reason my JFU pricing would not work Spent about 1/2 hour with Robert (SM who is AWESOME BTW) and on the phone with CS til we could get it worked out. Apparently I have TWO SW club cards associated with my phone # so the JFU pricing would not work until she combined both the cards and had them both associated with my #. Well, before that, my total was $105 after my MQ's and SF club card pricing it brought it down to $82 (which I thought was still kinda high) Well, AFTER the CS phone call, my total went down to $54 with the JFU pricing So from $105 down to $54 I was a happy camper!!!

No.no.no - you didn't ruin it AT ALL It wasn't a one time thing and I got some last night and this morning.I was freezing them and saving them for smoothies.I got more than my fair share.
.I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that Safeway may have caught the glitch so they can ditch the self checkout if need be, or at least have an excuse ready.

I still have no clue what this JFU thing is???

J4U (Just 4 You) is a program that Safeway is running.You can go to their website and sign up for the program with your Safeway club card number.Once you do that you can add coupons from the site to your card, and they will also have personalized deals (guessing based on your purchasing history) that you can load to your card.The personalized deals change every so often. I see the one time personalized deals loaded about once a week.These are the ones they advertise at the top of their weekly ad.The other personalized deals are unlimited use ( like the berries ) and I am not sure how often they change these out.My current ones are set to expire on 5/04, so they should be adding some new ones soon.

You get the Safeway club card at the store.
You go on the SW website and create an account with your card #
They will have: coupons that you can load to your card, special pricing on certain items, sale price or free items that you can also load to your card.
Print out the shopping list and take with you to the store. Shop.

You need the shooping list because many times your loaded coupons and/or prices are not working correctly I usually take my receipt and shopping list (showing the coupons and/or prices loaded on my card) to CS to get my cash back.

I'm going to have to get a new Safeway Card since our card # is MIA and Csvc couldn't help us with it. We're just too used to using our phone #

When you register online and provide your phone number and safeway membership number you get access to electronic coupons that you can pre-load on your card before you go shopping. Sometimes you get a personalized price for certain items and you can also use MQs with that price which sometimes makes for sweet deals. Some people got a personalized low price for strawberry. So when they checkout the system takes of the difference between the sale price and J4U price. THe system was doing that for all items (including free items with B1G2 free Q). Unfortunately I did not have that strawberry personalized price so could not get on this Strawberry deal HTH

BTW, new Q for Frank's hot sauce [facebook.com] that we can use at Raley's & NobHill. They are $1 Q, are there any deals for Sweet chili or thick sauce that we can use this on, or this $1 will be sort of wasted on the .50 hot sauce !
