I did not buy it since manager at Lucky would not give me $20 cash or gc if it does not print out. I showed them the couponnetwork, they have no idea what that site is. I guess maybe couponnetwork made a mistake? Hope my friend will get 20 from cat company.

Hope everyone had a wonderful CHRISTmas! I have been off and on sick/in bed for the past 3 weeks and barely got better in time for CHRISTmas, so I didn't get a chance to say thank you and Merry Christmas to all of you for being the great group you guys are.

I have a question for the moms/dads on this group here. This is kind of a tricky situation that I have never encountered before so I wanted to get some advice and words of wisdom. Yesterday my little girl got many wonderful presents for Christmas from all her aunties (my girl cousins)/and grand-aunties (my aunts who are now almost all grandmothers themselves). However, one present my baby got from a cousin/his wife is this obviously used (the packaging is coming apart and looks somewhat beat up) "Wooden Pull Toy" (no brand) made by Devrian Industries LLC. I looked up this company and it's kind of like one of those dollar store brands whose toys are made by factories in China. My baby girl is 8 months old and this toy says "3+" so obviously no thought was put into giving her this gift as she can't even play with it for another 2+ years. This wooden pulled toy duck is painted and I wanted to make sure the paint isn't toxic so I looked up this company and found that there was a BIG recall of cheap flashlights made by them sold by Target last Halloween and also some complaints of other items made by this company: http://saferproducts.gov/Search/Result.aspx?dm=0&lid=1&pcid=95&q=devrian&srt=0&stid=2&va=2

So my question is, how do I tactfully inform my cousin/his wife that the toy they gave my baby girl isn't safe (let alone age appropriate) and that they might also be aware not to give toys also made by this same company to their kids (they have a 3 yr old toddler boy and a 4 month old baby boy)? I would've rather they not given anything to my baby girl b/c if I weren't careful with inspecting/doing some research before letting my baby play with toys she gets as gifts (even if I wait 2.5 years till she's 3 before letting her play, she might still stick it in her mouth, etc.), I would be putting my kid in harm's way. Honestly, I also feel angry that they put no thought whatsoever into giving a gift. They would've done better to just to go Dollar Tree and buying a baby board book for my baby b/c at least we know those are safe and not painted with potentially toxic paint. Thanks for any advice.

Please see attached pictures (you can see from the first picture that the double sided tape that was original to the package to seal up the bottom of the package is all dirty from having been around for awhile (i.e. not new).

PS - I'm not sure why they are the way they are since I don't give them cheap gifts, for this Christmas I gave their baby boy 2 Carter's brand Christmas outfits (yes, I bought them on sale/clearance, but their retail value and quality are still good), and their 3 year old I gave him a Doug and Melissa toy that I bought at Kohls (and I know that brand is high quality).

Welcome to parenthood and one of the MANY issues you will encounter! In a nutshell, let it go and don't say anything. Everyone raises their kids differently. Would you say something to someone giving their kids soda, candy or keeping them up late? You will find yourself in many a situation where you'll think to yourself " I would never do that!". As a mom to two girls ages 7 and 2.5., I've had to learn to pick my battles - not only with my children but with relatives as well. You're kids will forever receive gifts that you don't want for them ( and snacks, treats, tv shows, etc) I've truly learned to stand my ground on things that really matter, otherwise I can't dictate to each and every person how to love my kids. I'm sorry that your daughter received such a yucky gift, I would just toss it and be as gracious as possible.

Thanks Maui. Yeah, I really shouldn't let my cousin and his wife's thoughtlessness bother me, I mean, if they want to stoop that low to go through their house and find any old piece of junk and wrap it up to give as a "gift" then I guess it just shows what kind of people they are. I would never give crap to people like that, things that shows absolutely no thought was put into the gift, no effort whatsoever, not even like if they had gotten it last year during after Christmas clearance sales, I'm just afraid they might've also given the same thing to my nephew who's 1 month younger than my daughter but his parents are discerning and wouldn't let him play with that piece of junk if he indeed got the same/similar gift. I guess I expect better from people, especially well educated and well-to-do people like them, but I guess giving some people benefit of doubt is giving them too much. At least now I know how they feel about me/my hubby/my daughter. I guess that's the part that bothered me the most, that they don't even respect us enough to give her a half-way decent gift, like a couple of board books from Dollar Tree.

Thanks CQ1, yes, it is the burden of the manufacturer that they made such a bad product, but my issue in this case is also with the gift giver b/c I have seen them give reasonably nice and age-appropriate/useful gifts (including to me) but this time it's like they didn't give a -ahem- and that hurts b/c I put some thought into their kids' gifts and they didn't even think my baby girl worth their bother. And they're family... I guess the good to come out of this is that I see their true color now.

This may have been answered before but I'm wondering how much money you need to spend at Raleys in a quarter (ends 12/31) with the Something Extra program in order to get rewards? In other words, how many points do you need? I'm thinking it is 500 points but I may be wrong. I just got an offer via email to get 250 points if I spend $12 or more in the meat department. If I purchase the meat, I'll be over the 500 point threshold... but $ is tight and I don't have much with it being the end of the month. Thanks for reading!
