thanks AMC!
My family doesnt eat enough veggies so reading your review of a CSA (what does it stand for again?) really helps. I am thinking of joining one and sharing with my parents so as not to waste any since dh and I and baby cant eat a huge box... is this a weekly or biweekly subscription and do they deliver direct? thanks for the idea, I've casually thought about it before but your reminder really makes me think it's a good deal and convenient not to have to go deal hunting for organic produce. Lucky's does run some good prices on fruit and veg, but not too many great deals on organic.

I recently joined a CSA in my area and wow, i can't believe I haven't done it sooner. At least the one I joined, it is a fabulous deal. I got a huge bag of veggies for $15. I weighed everything in my bag (spinach, kale, swiss chard, apples, sweet potatoes, broccoli, caulliflower and pears) and if i had purchased the same amount at Whole Foods or Safeway, i would have spent $30. And, it's all organic. We are so lucky in california to have CSA options. You just have to ask around or start googling to find one near you.

Costco does offer good prices on bulk produce, but I haven't noticed good prices on frozen produce. Their prices are so good though, that it would be a good deal to purchase their veggies and freeze them yourself!
Which CSA do u recommend? Do they home delivery, or I have to go there? For frozen vegies, I get 5 pounder stir fry mix and 5 pounder Normany (brocolli, cauliflower...etc) from costco, about $7 each. Wish they sell frozen leafy ones. Very convenient, even though not organic.

Not sure if this has been posted before but United Grocers has a "Try Me Free" promotion from 2/2/13-3/1/13. There are 19 General Mills products and a maximum of $45 that you can get back.

I got my flyer at G&G - they have stores in Santa Rosa and Petaluma. I have an extra one or two so if you're interested, let me know. I think they only work for "United Grocers" though. When I did a search, Raleys, Food Maxx and Savemart come up - but YMMV...

Those Earthbound Farm Qs in the SM magazine don't scan at all at Nob Hill or Savemart. Nob Hill let me use the BOGO and the $2 off today. I had a save $2.50 on a $12 frozen purchase offer on my account, so I bought 4 clamshells (3.99 each) and 4 bags of frozen roasted red potatoes (3.49 each) and a carton of almond milk for 8.45. Just wanted to give the heads up that they are a PITA to use if you don't have a Q friendly cashier.

cvs:
Poise products: reports on weekly thread some regions give back 1ecb
I saw tags up tonight & got the ecb
3.99, used $3MQ & $3CVS IP beeplessly

RA didn't have Poise, but at least has a shelf spot for them now (feminine products, with AZO, etc)
I figured my Revlon tools wrong. Bought 5 emery boards reg. 1.25, figuring $1 ea gold - $1/1 Qs
but they're 40% off, so they rang up .75 ea and all 5 Qs went thru

SW: I bought Select Ice cream last week, marked 3.49, rang up 2.36. With select code, 1.36
Anyone else bought this?
I've continued to buy it on the same card, no idea why I'm getting a discount. tonight I bought it alone, so it couldn't be part of the %discount on some FF-that requires $15 min purchase. And I was getting it before this ad started.

The forms were at the entrance to the store. I went back there yesterday to purchase some of the items. I was disappointed to see that G&G charges a lot more money per item that you get refunded - for example one of the granola bars they were selling for $4.59 and the max value that you could get back was $3.00. Made me wonder if it was worthwhile... Sigh

CSA Info:

I joined valleyendfarms in Rohnert Park. All CSA's are different, so I went with one that was recommended to me, and had the following options:

* I can modify the veggies/fruits that I receive. For example, if my family hated broccoli and never wanted it in my bag, I could tell them 'no broccoli ever'. Or, if I know pears are coming in the bag this week and I want lots, I can email/facebook/text them and say "i would like extra pears" and they will swap out other veg/fruit to give me more of something.
* I can pick up my bag on Tuesday's, OR there is a delivery option. This farm is about two minutes from my office so I will pick up, but they will still deliver anywhere in the Rohnert Park with no fee. I do not know how common it is for a CSA to deliver, so you may need to pick one that is on a good route for you, ie, on the way home.
* I can skip a week, no problem. If I am going to be out of town, or I am still using up the produce from the previous week, I can contact the CSA and ask that I skip a week and my subscription extended by one week. I think they require 3 days notice.

So, you can see that I found a very flexible CSA and am so happy I finally joined. It is worth looking into if your fam eats a lot of fruits and veggies, and, if you are a bit adventurous. I add this part because I am googling recipes when a new-ish veggie comes in my bag! For example, looked up swiss chard this weekend. I haven't used it much, so I got creative. I think that is fun, but other's might not!

well that would make sense to have them with bagged lettuce and large size clamshells laugh out loud

i think there's perhaps FOUR places @my reg store for lettuce Unsure

these are the two lettuce heads in a clamshell pack. they may be found grouped with some other fancy types of packaged lettuce and next to the regular lettuce heads

Sadbye because it worked Wink
Dragging half a convo from SW thread
TY CQ! I went backlaugh out loud
never found the lettuce, all the RF lays were gone but it was funny to watch bread ring up with 6 lines and still say 0.00
ON free with code
and I was so happy that I finally got seeded rye I paid the 1.99 outright, w/o any further reduction using codes Wink

aw man-caught before I actually posted that I would share CC phone, but this is my HI card & no phone attached (not that I remember anyway)

not any useful info, I remember checking out a site with similar name around BF looking for clothes for hubs and that site was uber-hip.
So I did a quick check to see if this was the same place
Browsing thru depts, I saw The Housewives Shop and the graphic looked like a big plastic tooth splashing in water
curious, I followed several links with the pic to "toys"
the description of this toy was a stress reliever, kept scrolling to find out

aka vibrator
Blush
some of the other shapes of "toys" sort of made sense, but I do not even want to know about this tooth-shaped thing

tread with caution, m'dear laugh out loud-altho I probably found the only dirty lil' secret they haveEmbarrassment

DH jumped right on that deal. He's so trusting. He bought some nice dishtowels (he's more of a nester than I am) and we haven't seen suspicious activity on the credit card since he made the purchase last month.

Oh MissusG...you weren't the only one who found the naughty stuff. I was also wondering how most of those worked...And you know, if you can't figure out how something like that works, then I guess it could be displayed proudly to your more innocent buddies. Big Grin
