Deal Details

Update: Emailing them from their website works great. They will call you directly and they will have a written record of your complaint.
You can also call 1-800-824-9081 and at the voice menu say "cancel service".

I called DirecTV to see what counter offers they had in place. I am only a Select Choice customer from 1997 and have a 40 hour Tivo unit, and get free local channels. So my monthly bill after taxes is now $51.

Current deals:
$10 off a month for the next 12 month - no commitment
OR
$100 credit on your bill - no commitment
AND/OR
Free channels for a few months - no commitment
AND/OR
Miscellaneous DVR type of freebies/discounts - normally 2 yr commitment required.

Original posting deals that were going on:
Here is what the rep outlined (they know about the Dish Network special):
  • Upgrade Tivo to 80 hour free, and gives you a $100 rebate on top of that
  • 2 months Premium service free
  • 6 months of Showtime free
  • 3 months of Starz free

Hmmm....decisions, decisions.

Good luck!

I got a call back after setting up cancelation with my call this morning.

Was offered the $36 discount for 12 months , Sunday ticket max, premium movie channels free for 3 months. I had about 12 months left on contract so no extensions. Didn't ask about the $200 gift card
rest assured you would not of gotten that $200 had you asked. I'd be happy with what you got half way through your contract. You never know though, it's all a crap shoot with Directv offers.

I was scheduled to disco 7/31. I called and mentioned GREATDEAL1. Rep gave me $43 off a month, for 12 months. Wasn't gonna try to push GC.

So I wanna make sure I get this straight,

call to cancel and setup a disconnect date...

then probably sometime close to that date call the 1-855-407-3110 # and mention the GREATDEAL1 code and see what I can get from there?

Right, except about waiting until close to the disconnect date. Just give it a try and call 24 hours later. If that didn't work, try 48 hours later.

But, note, the best deal (big discounts each month, NFL ST Max, 3 months free premiums and $200 GC - but maybe not the GC) might only be available if you actually let the disconnect happen (meaning NEWDEAL1 and/or GREATDEAL1 are expired)... it's mixed reports here. But try it!

thanks, we've been off the 2 years contract since May, and trying to find a way to get a good deal as Cox is awful in our area, and I'd love to have the Sunday Ticket again for Free...

even though that would mean I'd have to watch the Bengals every week, not sure I can handle that Wink

Well I had called in to cancel. Got connected to a nice woman in retentions. After about 35min on the phone, I got everything I wanted.

I had the Ultimate package with 1 HD-DVR Whole Home and 2 mini Genies (1 wireless) I repeatedly asked about Sunday ticket max and was told I could only get the regular one for free.

Once she started setting up my cancelation date, she finally came back with $30 off for a year, sunday ticket max and free movie channels for 3 months.

I am happy with that promotion. I had to extend my contract 6 months, but no big deal since I am moving next fall (2016) and will just start all over again anyways.

My contract is up on 8/2 so I set up a disconnect on that day. Got the greatdeal1 email the next day. Called and got Xtra package for 34.99 for 12 months, free SNFLT max, and new equipment with 24 month contract. I have an old Genie HR34 that is slow and freezes and pixelates so I want a new Genie. The rep said OK but I would need new Genie minis too. I said that was fine because one of my minis is unresponsive when I turn it on most of the time and I constantly have to reset it. I asked if I qualified for the 200 GC and she said yes. I didn't qualify for the free premiums for 3 months, probably because I'm on 4 free months of Showtime now.
I received the email verifying my order and new equipment and it doesn't include the new Genie. I called and was told that the system wouldn't let them give me a new Genie because I already have a Genie. So the first rep lied to me. I was told they would put a note on the order that if the tech couldn't fix my issues to give me a new Genie. I'm sure it will work perfectly when the tech is here.
I guess I will try emailing the office of the president. I'm not sure what else to do. I'm worried that my old Genie will start acting up again in a few months and they'll want to charge me 50 bucks to come look at it again.

How do you find out about how long your contract is?

Only retentions can tell you as front line support doesn't have access to it. If you call the regular support number and ask that question they will transfer you. It is not on your bill.
