PrimoPDF not working anymore

ericcartman 3,215 2,194 June 20, 2009 at 08:30 PM
I've been using PrimoPDF on my Compaq laptop for a while, and it's been working fine until now.
About 2 weeks ago I got a virus and took it to a shop to get fixed. While they had it, I got them to add more memory. Tonight is the first time I've tried printing using Primo since the repair and that is the only thing that could have caused something to go wrong.
When I click to print, the print icon pops up and then goes away as if the print job was completed, but there is no printout.
I've tried un-installing and re-installing Primo, but that doesn't work. If it were a normal printer, my next thought would be updating the print drivers, but I have no clue if/how that could be done for a PDF program.
I do not have a printer connected to the laptop, so I can't check to see if could print somewhere else.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Installed CutePDF and that seems to work now, but Primo is still DOA.
(When I originally installed Primo, it was literally a coin toss between that and Cute, so no big deal.)
I'll probably try PDF Redirect on my desktop PC. Then I can use both and see which I like better.

Still puzzled why all of a sudden Primo died, and how it could be fixed.

I have to ask if this is the first time you tried to print since the computer was fixed. If so, it's possible you need to uninstall and reinstall the printer.

Yes, first time and uninstall/reinstall didn't work.

We have a "printer" that installs with some of our user software that is a more or less fake device -- that has to be installed for printing to work from that application.

I've seen Adobe PDF printer in Printers and Faxes when I look at printers on our machines that use Adobe Standard.

I wonder if your PDF software has something similar and if uninstalling/reinstalling the PDF software might work.
