DIY Oil Change Deals (Updated 8/5/2012)

For those of you in Menards region-

Feb. 17th - 24th

$3 per quart of Quaker State full synthetic 5W-30 or 10W-30. After store rebate (can only be used at Menards.)

I use the 5W and it seems to run well.

Beat me to it as well as the guy who keeps cleaning out their stock of 5w30 before I can get there Luckily I found 6 quarts stuck back in the slot that hadn't slid down automatically What's more maddening is they never restock at least our store until well after the sale/AR is over. Also, slight OT but they have FAR Peak wiper blades limit 2 might as well pickup while you are there.

I didn't even get any this week since I have probably 20 stockpiled. Sometimes you have to wake up early to beat the crowds to the deals...........

Beware of the Peak apparently they are really bad no personal experience.

Just picked up six quarts of 10W30 for the Jeep. I'm sure I'll be able to find something I was going to buy anyway with the store rebate.

Resurrecting a dead thread but Advance Auto Parts has Mobil 1 EP + Mobil 1 Filter for 36$ till 3/31. Typically the regular deal you see.

I recently got in on the $8/per Mobil 1 EP Oil Filter Amazon deals, this along with Walmarts 5qt for $27 for M1 EP is the same deal or a little better since there's no tax on Amazon deals.

Buy in bulk and buy often is my motto, it's not like the oil's going to go bad.

On a side note, I just sold my 2007 Civic which I only used Castrol Edge, Full Syn- Gold bottle. I liked that oil but by the end of the cycle I noticed the oil was in pretty rough shape.
On my wifes 2009 Ram hemi 5.7 I've been using M1 EP and it's holding up pretty good, she's got 5000 miles on the oil change so far and I just checked the oil and it looks still really clean and not as broke down as my civic with Castrol did. Just my experience so far. Both are good oils but so far Mobil 1 looks like the winner.

So you judge the oil by 'looking at it' ?
The only way you will know how good the oil is , is to have it analyzed.
Looking at it means nothing.

What makes him a troll? Because the statement he made is absolutely correct? blackstone-labs.com does oil analysis testing. There is no possible way for you to tell how the oil is or how many more miles you can go on your current oil without getting it tested.

You can look at oil all day long, it won't matter, most humans have no ability to distirguish oil's properties just by looking at it. For most humans it requires the help of laboratory equipment to do that.

However, if you DO have that ability, I would like to offer my sincerest appology for doubting you.
