They are two seperate systems.
In a gasoline engine, Oil and gasoline shouldn't be coming into contact with one another....or u would destroy your very smoky car as u burn oil.. gas is fuel while oil provides lubrication and cooling. If you had a two stroke like a lawnmower...then you mix them.

it is not a bad deal...but it seems evened out when I buy 7 as I need 7at to change mine....
the $25 @ autozone comes with 5 as I need 7....about $7 for one...close to $44 after tax...

Is it true Synthetic use less Gas then Convention?
Kinda want to share my experiences to anyone who are interested!

I always use synthetic oil from Kragen (Buy them whenever Kragen has Synthetic on-sale for $0.99); however, lately I can't find any synthetic oil that are $0.99 around San Diego CA, eventhough their BIG ADS are on the front Door.

I switch back to convention oil from 2 months ago when I tuned up my car. I replaced an air filter, coolen, transmission oi, oil and oil filter and 4 Spark Plug (switch from regular to Iridium). I recently Notice the Gas Mileage drop down 2 mile per gallon. My car usually run 28mph; however, now it's only 26mpg. I was confusing because after tuned up the car, i expected to get Higher Milage. Is it true Synthetic use less Gas then Convention?

The answer is NO. After I talk to a Clerk at Kragen, he said it's probably because i'm using Iridium Spark Plug, which gives huge Spark, so my engine has to push more gas in to burn. I bought another regular 4 spark-plug, and my milage goes back to 30mpg.

Benefit using Regular Oil : my car stop Leaking on the Street (Green for enviroment). Convention actually produce blacky stuff behind in engine; however, those things are actually help to seal up all the small HOLEs between the gaskets

Benefit using Synthetic: Last longer, it's sticker with less friction on the engine, which explain why some people keep thinking less Friction less Gas use.

REPPED and thumbs up for work done, i still have about 9,000 miles before I change my oil but those prices on Mobil (not Mobile, thats alabama ) are excellent. My car takes 8 or 9 quarts of this liquid gold so ill get it.

These synthetic oils were developed by Nazi germany during WWII when we bombed all their oil production out of existence..they were very good engineers..thats why its still in use today. they helped get us to the moon with the guys who built he V1 and V2 rockets coming to USA after the war. Its good they chased a jewish albert einstein to america....and all the others. good thing too. (rant)

IMHO changing to synthetic oil does not give you more than "maybe" 1/10th of a mile per gallon better gas mileage. In addition to proving this to myself by logging my mileage over 100 gallons used running regular oil and then 100 gallons using synthetic motor oil, trasmission fluid and differential oil. Also, one of the motor oil websites (maybe Mobile 1 but not sure), has a fuel savings calculator that you can plug in your mileage driven per day or year, type of vehicle, engine size, etc.. and it tells you how much $ you will save on gas for the year by switching to synthetic. Using all of the most "ideal" situations I could come up with, the most it showed that I would be able to save by using synthetic oil over std oil, was $55 a year. Given that I do about 24,000 miles a year, it just didn't seem like very much of a savings. I know some difference is better than nothing, but it didn't save me any money due to the higher cost of the sythetic oil. I guess it would benefit the environment a little bit though. I noticed no change in my own 100 gallon challenge. How do I know I used 100 gallons for each test? Because in place of an instant fuel mileage gauge, my 2006 GMC Envoy, GMC put a "Fuel Used" gauge in it's place on the '06 model, which I thought was going to be totally useless until I started my synthetic Vs. Regular oil challenge and in that case, it was very helpful. The car also has a fuel mileage gauge which is how I know the mileage didn't change at all. Also, and a little off topic, I installed a Airaid Throttle Body spacer and I saw NO improvment in power and my mileage went down about 1/5 of a mile per gallon. I hope this helps. I'd love to hear if anyone else has done any mileage comparisons uing sythetic oil or any other Gas Mileage Improvement methods or parts. Consumer Reports states that out of about 40 different devices that they've tested that claim to giveyou better mileage, none of them gave ANY better mileage. I did see better mileage using one product called "Ethos". It's a Fuel additive that you add to the gas tank, and it says to add to your trans and rear end (the vehicle's rear end). It actually worked. The problem is, I got about a half a mile more per gallon, but the product cost's aout $20 a bottle, so once again, no savings there. I think a CAI may help though as would replacing the engine and belt driven cooling fan with an electric fan. One thing I found VERY interesting is that I believe consumer reports (and I may be wrong about the source, but I konw i read it on a repuatble website) said that using your air conditioner did not decrease fuel mileage more than just a tiny ammount on some cars and didn't affect mileage on other cars at all. I've always thought using teh AC killed my mileage, but I never tested it. Now that summer is here, I feel another 100 gallon mleage test coming on. One thing all of these websites seemed to agree on is that if the car manufacturer's aren't using something to give better mileage on new cars, chances are it's a gimmick and not going to work.

It's been a long time since I bought oil and a filter and did it myself and the way it looks it's almost cheaper to have it done. I get mine done for under $15 every time.

WHAT!!!! Why doesn't NorCal have a O'Reilly Auto Parts. I use Royal Purple in my lifted truck and thats a hell of a deal. CANNOT BEAT THAT. Anyone have any ideas on how I can get that deal locally?
