Alright, non 15 year olds. Desktop HDD crapped out on me yesterday. Thinking I may as well replace it with an SSD since I have 3 TB of storage in an external drive. Is the FP deal the way to go?
http://slickdeals.net/f/4926664-S...-Shipping? Last I read (it's been a while) the Samsung's were the best...is that still the case? I assume I don't need the Upgrade kit since it looks like that is only for migrating data. Is $195 slick enough? |
|
Does the upgrade kit have the 2.5" to 3.5" adapter?

Good catch. Looks like it does. I had the adapter in my cart as well...Looks like the kit may be better after all
EDIT: Here's a review talking about the adapter...

No need for an adapter, just use some foam tape or velcro and attach it somewhere inside the case. I have 3 of them setup that way and no issues.
I think 256GB is overkill, but if you don't mind spending the $$ then go for it. I use a 60GB and it is fine for OS and a few applications. |

get the Crucial M4. And bleh on that 2TB Anyway, i'd get the 240/56gb SSD, 1 120/8 gb SSD will give you windows, office, update, and fit 2 games on it. I myself only have the 128 M4 in my system now, and im constantly shuffling my "active game" on the SSD and moving my normal game installs to my 500GB WD Black normal drive I'd rather just be able to fit like my 4 top games I play daily on my SSD for the SSD benefit, as of right now all i have on there is Star Wars TOR, and after updates & what not my SSD has like 40gb free I also like to operate with about 20% space free on my SSDs, this topic is debated on many sites/forums/etc, but i use the same rule that I generally use for normal platters HDDs with my SSDs. Anyway, i will be "upgrading" my SSD soon to the 256MB M4 (as soon as I decide to not be lazy and do an re-install of windows). Then i'll be able to fit SC2, WoW, TOR, and whatever other stuff I wanna play on the fly on my SSD =) |

BTW, if you use Steam, can you have mutiple install locations? Because i predict that will make it difficult to not overfill my SSD...sicne the games i would want installed would be from Steam, and the ones i want installed but don't play often would ALSO be steam,a nd would clog the arteries, per se... Thanks to SlickDeals,i got a Samsung 40" LED 1080p tv from Target for $372. I also got a set of 2 memory foam pillows for $16.
Thanks to Christ, I get to go to Heaven, even though I don't deserve it. |

Gosh, I've missed so much...how could I ever begin to catch up?
Guess I'll disrobe, weep, touch myself and listen to The Smiths on repeat in the dark, alone save for the company of my varied and convoluted schemes to simultaneously topple both 3VGA and Fitocracy... |
