Thread Details

Might as well have one of these since OT seems more interesting than the usual bickering over live vs. psn.

Now, who wants to talk about how LEET they are? -_-V

thumbing up my thread because I can.

It's made out of diamonds right?
No, that's what the Nokia's screen are made of. The S3's is made of transparent aluminum.

How many phones are made with that gorilla glass that is supposed to be even stronger? They need to all use that.

Why the hell do they have GLASS fronts anyways? Instead of like what the S3 has? STUPID.
yea.......99% of the phones out there have a glass screen. The major knock against the iPhone 4/4S was the Glass BACK.

Any decent $10 case from Marshall's or Kohl's will do a good job of protecting it through a once every 60-90 days dropping pattern. If you are the type to drop it once a week, you'll need to drop ~$50 and just spring for the Otterbox.

Did a new Flash update just come out? Or did our IT crack down on vids? I can't watch anything at all at work anymore (Facebook and YouTube used to work, now they don't.)

The Gorilla Glass 2.0? I think anything in the last ~6 months should come with that.

I think almost all of the major ones do use that.

I think that stuff is still susceptible to edge impacts, I could be wrong.

Hrrrm ok. My limited knowledge of the S3 & iphone 5, they seem different. The S3 front looks like it's a plastic matte type of screen rather than the clear glossy glass front of the iphone.

I think the problem is the s3 has a small lip around the edge of the screen so that if it fell and landed face down, would damage the lip, not the screen. On the iphone, the glass front is the highest point of the phone and would take all of the damage.

She dropped the iphone on vinyl flooring while sitting down and now the face is all jacked up with cracks n shit. Wack.

Can anyone here recommend a decent iPhone 5 case? Preferrably one that protects the front glass. My mom dropped hers and now the screen is all cracked to shit.

my mom's got the same one, but she has hers in the light pink and white color (it was what verizon had on launch day)

I agree with Curtie, if you're mom's susceptible to drops, spring for the Otterbox as thats the only case that's literally 100% shock proof. course it also doubles the thickness of the phone basically lol.

btw the iphone 5 uses gorilla glass 2 just like the S3.

I got a sweet silicon case for my DNA the day I bought it. I'm pretty careful with my phones though and rarely drop them(if I ever have?). This case seems like it would protect it pretty well.

The Otterbox cases are great, but IPT is right, they basically double the size of your phone and make them ridiculously heavy(compared to what they are naked).

if you have a TPU (which i hope) then it'll be fine for light impact
say dropping it 3 ft or so
if you drop it like a flight of stairs, it probably won't protect it.
The otterbox will because its a re-enforced plastic shell that's covered with like half a CM of TPU Cushioning.
Its really bulky, but for those who are active and run the chance of dropping their phone consistently and on hard surfaces, it'll be the way to go.

Thermoplastic polyurethane

when you say silicone, i think those old cases that are flimsy and super dust magnets.

Whatever it is, it allows the phone to use one of those charging pad things without taking the case off.
