Might as well have one of these since OT seems more interesting than the usual bickering over live vs. psn.

Now, who wants to talk about how LEET they are? -_-V

thumbing up my thread because I can.

remember when they used to give you a meal on a 2hr flight? or more than .4oz of peanuts?
No, I'm not that old.

(But seriously, no, I never flew before 2006) We did get a meal on our red eye 5 hr flight to Iceland...I thought that was really weird as it would have been served at like 11:00 PM local to where we left and like 4:00 AM local to where we were landing.

I got a really good meal on a 50 minute flight last year, Taipei to Okinawa. I couldn't believe everything they went through to get us this meal on such a short flight. It was quite tasty for what it was. Asia is phenomenal with some stuff and customer service is one of them. Check out the attached pic.

This. I do hate flying...just feels like such a waste of time, a constant hurry up and wait.

I feel like it has to be over ten hours of driving before I'd consider flying, these days... flew a lot from the age of nine months up until 1997. Just taking other people to the airport is a hassle in itself nowadays. Not as bad at the Omaha airport as it was at Denver.

I've officially lost all faith in the value of amazon reviews, as well as fakespot.

Achievements are not for the meek, it is better to forfeit inheritance of the earth so that the mighty may look upon my gamerscore, and despair. Achievements are for men who dream; men who dare; men who achieve! Men who carve out entire galaxies with nothing more than nimble cheetos-dusted fingers and their wits, and in our leisurely twilight days we shall sit by softly flickering fires with our descendants recounting the tales of these unimaginable glories.

I didn't realize they were being used for... ahem... "ghost hunting" nowadays, but I suppose it makes sense.

At first I thought they were satirical in nature, but then I read a few of them and made my way to the Q&A section before coming to the realization that these people were being serious.

for me its based on duration of trip and length of drive.. If i'm going somewhere for a weekend and its more than a 4.5 hour drive, I'll just fly.. If I'm going for a week and its a 15 hour drive, I'll drive it.. I also look at cost of renting a vehicle while i'm there vs gas to drive there.. I can rent a "sporty" car in Indy for the price of renting a "compact" in Phoenix..

Yeah, the one saying that all land surveyors should use them to find underground pipes had me amused.

That and the one complaining that their readings were getting messed up due to them not being solid copper. Because you need that extra copper to make the crazy happen.

cool read on the KFC recipe. i would have never thought to put ginger in. not that i deep fry but i might try that recipe for a chicken cutlet or something.

dowsing rods are utter bs. basically you hold 2 copper rods and you walk around. when there is water under you, they rotate and touch or something. all the reviews are trolls for the most part.

using a magnetic field to find water might be legit. but holding 2 copper rounds to detect the water isn't possible. magnetism, like gravity, is an inverse square force decreasing over distance. the amount of friction your hands have on the rods would be more than the magnetic force.

Have you read them? That's what I thought at first too. A few are but the majority are legit. So not only do people believe in this, they're absolutely convinced that it works extremely well.

I'm sure a few think it is legit. i doubt most do, probably paid to review.

you can buy likes/follows and reviews. i wouldn't be surprised if someone leveraged mechanical turk to get people to generate reviews. then they use accounts to buy the item at a discount and post the review as a verified buyer.

amazon reviews have gone downhill. since people can offer items at a discount for an "honest" review. how many times have you read a review and it will point out 5 bad* aspects and then give it a 5 star review. and close out the review with "great product that i received at a discount for an honest review"?
