Might as well have one of these since OT seems more interesting than the usual bickering over live vs. psn.

Now, who wants to talk about how LEET they are? -_-V

thumbing up my thread because I can.

he was asking in general what we use.
I wasn't answering Roland, I was answering you. I'm assuming you were including me in one of the 3 people who have a windows phone on the GL.

and the context about the post before was that windows phone users don't have problems getting productive apps or something, whatever webdoggy was trying to say.

And i wasn't talking about social apps, i don't think roland was talking about social apps (i know for a fact he doesn't even have a FB acct), so im not 100% sure how your comment about me asking about useful apps applies.

I use Chrome as default browser, and Firefox for Flash support.
I just enabled my dropbox account for 50GB cloud storage
i used Airdroid to FTP files back and forth between my phone/tablet/computer instead of having to connect it to the computer.
i have BSPlayer for all my video watching needs, Youtube Downloader to d/l youtube vids
Slingplayer to watch my Slingbox
tapatalk for my forums (still annoyed SD doesn't use tapatalk support, would make things SOOO much easier)
Radio.com app for my NY Sports talk radio =D
Timeriffic to automatically set my phone to vibrate/wifi off/notifications silent when im at work (greatest app btw, never have to remember to put the phone on vibrate, then turn it back on after work)
twitch.tv for watching SC2 Streams/tournaments
Beautiful Widgets for the weather/clock/etc.
Zedge for Ringtones/wallpapers.
Titanium backup (a must if you root) to backup apps/data/etc

and i can list a few more crap, but you get the idea.

Thanks for the tips on Chrome and Timeriffic!!!! Whee

Oh....I hope that Beautiful Widgets thing is free. Gonna go check now.

EDIT:
Settled for Fancy Widgets as it was free.

You should be able to stream your music collection to your phone using Google Play Music. I haven't played with it much but I know my friends use it a lot.

Ok dood.. however you want to qualify it.

The truth is, I really don't even care/need that many apps, so I don't have a ton to begin with (probably under 150 including games). I don't use the majority of them, and what I do use, I'm sure Android/Apple have and/or don't care about them.

Things I use a lot:
- Facebook/twitter - built into phone
- Email management - bip
- Maps/GPS/food fidging/etc (turn by turn/whatever) - bip
- Contact organization - bip
- UPC/QR/any type of code scanning - bip
- Song identification - bip
- Flashlight... lol - bip
- IMDB (I'm sure every phone has one)
- WPCentral (it's about WP, so other phones don't care)
- Metrotube (youtube)
- XBox glass (xbox controller, most phones won't care)
- Bnet authenticator - every phone has one.
- Gas up free - most phones have I'm sure
- Office... OneNote, Excel, Word, Powerpoint.. etc. Not many people care, but Roland might because he said something about Finance I think?

Here are some I rarely use but are still kinda cool:
- 4chan reader - every phone
- BBC mobile - ep
- Board express pro - ep
- Cockail Flow - I think most phones have one of these.. it's pretty cool
- endgadget - ep
- IM+ - ep
- IN+ (linkedin) - ep
- Lots of different photo editors/publishers.. - ep
- Radio hub - ep
- Skyrim guide - ep
- Tango - ep
- Tunewiki - not sure if every phone has it but it's fun.
- Urban dictionary - ep
- VSA - You wouldn't care unless you're a developer
- Whatsapp - ep I think..
- Wolfram Alpha - ep
- WPDev feedback - again every phone wouldn't care.

About 50 or so games.. some of them are pretty fun, but I don't really play games on my phone much.

To specifically reply to your common apps:

Quote :
1) I use Chrome as default browser, and Firefox for Flash support.
2) I just enabled my dropbox account for 50GB cloud storage
3) i used Airdroid to FTP files back and forth between my phone/tablet/computer instead of having to connect it to the computer.
4) i have BSPlayer for all my video watching needs, Youtube Downloader to d/l youtube vids
5) Slingplayer to watch my Slingbox
6) tapatalk for my forums (still annoyed SD doesn't use tapatalk support, would make things SOOO much easier)
7) Radio.com app for my NY Sports talk radio =D
8) Timeriffic to automatically set my phone to vibrate/wifi off/notifications silent when im at work (greatest app btw, never have to remember to put the phone on vibrate, then turn it back on after work)
9) twitch.tv for watching SC2 Streams/tournaments
10) Beautiful Widgets for the weather/clock/etc.
11) Zedge for Ringtones/wallpapers.
12) Titanium backup (a must if you root) to backup apps/data/etc
1) IE, no flash Frown
2) Skydrive
3) Skydrive...
4) Metrotube
5) no need
6) Is that so you can talk and it writes for you? Looks like board express doesn't have SD either.. it does have CAG tho!
7) Radio hub/Radio Controller
8) no need.. I always keep mine on vibrate. Have for a long time
9) Don't have twitch.tv.. didn't look to see if there was anything else that could service those needs
10) Don't need a widget manager, and multiple apps for weather
11) http://makeownringtone.com/ - so easy I haven't bothered to look for anything
12) Don't root. WP7 does not natively have a way to back up SMS/MMS, which I'm actually kinda pissed about, but apparently WP8 does.

makeownringtone.com involves me actually uploading and making my own ringtone
easier to just open zedge and d/l ringtones/wallpaper from someone who's done it already

i keep my phone vibrate during work, but ring/vibrate during all other times
i also shut off wifi after 2AM, and disable it when im at work during the day until 5PM (no wifi at work), and enable after 10AM on weekends
its just so easy to setup these things on timeriffic to automatically do these things, so i love this app hehe.

btw i see you have engadget and a few other sites, maybe see if you have pulse for windows phones.
i used to use it when i checked out a bunch of news sites and what not, its 1 app for like all the RSS feeds.

Dude, gotta brag a little but...I just upgraded to SIII on black friday with a phone call to Sprint.

Got 2 SIII's for 99cents each.

$0.99 phone # 1 (mine)
$0.99 phone # 2 (Wife's)
$36 ACtivation fee for #1
$36 Activiation fee for #2
$73.98 Total

Minus $100 Loyalty Credits

Net $26.02

So basically, Sprint paid me $26.02 for 2 SIII's and two 2 year contracts, which we would've taken on anyways as long time (premier)members completely happy with Sprint service and customer service.

Got the phones yesterday and began playing around with it...prompting my questions on functional apps earlier today. haha

EDIT:

Holy crap zedge is awesome.
