Coupon Policy:

Hy-Vee is happy to redeem your coupons. The following rules apply when accepting vendor coupons clipped from newspapers or magazines, received by mail, or obtained legitimately from the internet:
  • The coupon must be legible.
  • The coupon should have a scannable bar code (UPC) and a remittable manufacturer’s address.
  • Coupons must have an expiration date and must be used within the stated time frame. Expired coupons will not be accepted.
  • Only one vendor coupon per item will be accepted. However, a customer may use a vendor coupon in combination with a Hy-Vee coupon on the same item.
  • Coupon values that exceed the price of the item will not be accepted.
  • Soft drink container caps will be accepted.
Due to increased fraud, the following two additional rules apply to internet coupons:
  • Vendor coupons that involve any kind of free product will not be accepted, including “buy one, get one free” offers.
  • A Store Director has authority to set monetary limitations (for example, $2.50 per coupon) for the acceptance of internet coupons at the Store Director’s store.

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly at the Hy-Vee 6-Hour Sale

It was CRAZEEEEE at my Hy-Vee!!!! (108th & Fort, Omaha). I overslept and didn't get there until about 845AM, and traffic was so backed up we couldn't even turn into the parking lot. Finally got in, and there were no carts. I lucked out though because about 10 minutes later a kind gentleman who was leaving gave me his cart. But it was a total ZOO! It was truly as bad as Walmart or Best Buy on "Black Friday". The Hy-Vee employees couldn't stock items fast enough, and were just bringing stuff out, opening the boxes and stacking them on the floor. Check-out took me a good 45-50 minutes. They had some killer deals, but boy, did I have to work for them!

At least everyone was in a good mood and polite at the Hy-Vee I went to. A friend of mine hit the Peony Park Hy-Vee in Omaha, and one rude woman took his cart. He finally found another cart, but when he left it for a sec to grab something, someone took some of his items! The nerve!

Anyway, very happy to have stocked up on cheap Coke Zero 2-liters! Oh, I do have to say "kudos" to all the Hy-Vee employees at my local store. They were really hustling to get items out on the floor and people through the checkout lines as fast as they could, and they were all very nice and polite.

FYI...There's a promo going on where if you buy 3 Hallmark Expressions greeting cards you can get a FREE Halloween "Treat Buddy" (choice of a little black witch cat, a ghostie, or a little bat?...normally $6). There's a tear-pad with a coupon for the free "Treat Buddy". Anyway, it's a good deal because the 99 cent cards qualify, so you could get three of those and get a "Treat Buddy" FREE! I got the little black witch cat...cute! Haven't checked, but they probably also have this promo at Walmart, Walgreens, Target, etc.

6 hour sale was nuts around here too. I thought I would mention about the Hallmark Treat Buddies, that there is a 3 day stock up sale next week Oct 8-10 and it says 50% off Hallmark greeting cards. I'm hoping it includes the 99 cent ones, it doesn't say that it doesn't include them, so hopefully I can get 3 cards for 50 cents each and the treat buddy.

Mission flour taco tortillas are on sale this week 2 for $3. There is a sign on the shelf that says get .75 off wyb 2 with EZ pic coupon . The savings automatically come off at the register and the promotion dates were thru late October. Combined with the .75/1 from 8/9 SS it makes them .75 for 2 packs of tortillas.

I wanted to see what was coming up in this week's ad (starting tomorrow in Algona) so I checked the Faribault, MN ad as Sandbeach suggested since it starts Sunday. Instead of a flyer, it says:

Ad Prices Valid From 10/04/2009 - 10/05/2009

Effective October 4, weekly ads for all stores will be posted on Hyvee, com each Tuesday. You can still obtain print ads at you local stores on the day your ad goes into effect. Thank you for your understanding as we work to bring you the best possible deals on the products you buy at Hy-Vee.

Geez, Muscatine was the same way. I was there shortly before 8 to buy carnations for a party and it was nuts. I couldn't believe it. But there was just me and one man in the floral department.

There were a couple decent deals but it sure wasn't anything I would have gotten up early for -- maybe stopped by later if I was out and about anyway.

That's weird. I can't imagine there were that many people looking at the ad early??? I don't know why they don't all start on the same day anyway.

I was a little ticked about this "deal". The FREE coupon is a MQ tearpad with a max. value of $1.25 off the BC potatoes. Hy-Vee has a couple of BC potatoes on sale for $1.50, but the others were $1.68. So, OOP was $0.25 at a minimum and not FREE.

It's still cheap potatoes, but I don't like misleading advertising.

Glade Scented Oil candles in the tins are $2.50, some have the $1.50 coupon inside. There is a tear pad on the display for a free package of scented oil refills with the purchase of any candle holder.

So, you get a tin and a refill (pack of 3) for a buck.

These were in a cardboard stand up display about 4' tall. I found it at the rear of the store kind of between dairy and the canned fruit aisle --nowhere near the air freshener aisle.

It was rumored a change was coming. Thanks for posting the info. I thought the biggest problem with the different sale dates was when they had Catalina promotions. Even though the promotion would be advertised, it never started printing until Wednesday.

I don't see much that is very exciting in this week's ad.

Pork Roast @ $0.88/lb. - 3 day sale Thurs - Sat.

Blue Bunny Ice Cream 56 oz. box @ $2.50 - $1 printable = $1.50

HyVee bacon for $1.88, not a coupon deal, but still a decent price.

Sign up with Farmland [farmlandfoods.com] for some coupon so you have them the next time it is on sale.

we were traveling last Saturday and happened to be in Topkea KS visiting friends. We went to HyVee as more bodies would be able to get more 99 cent hamburger (limit 2).

We were there mid morning and the meat manager said he had just taken the limit off -- you could buy as many as you wanted. So she got 12 and was happy.

The store was SWAMPED.
