thumbs up/down suggestion
Howbout when you click thumbs up or down, a small window like the search button pops up asking you why you are giving a TU or down, you will have to type something, this will help cut down those who just give every thread a TD and give suggestions and more cudos for the OP from those who like the threads.

![]() I think that if someone votes a thumbs up or down, they should be forced to make a comment as to why they voted a certain way. I've seen deals in which a couple of people have replied, but many more gave a thumbs down. This would make the deals more credible as to why they're good or bad. |
|
Who is going to audit the posts to confirm that they are meaningful? What constitutes a "comment," would a "I don't like it" or "It's a hot deal," be enough, and is it worth wading through such comments? Requiring comments for thumbs up/down, IMHO, would reduce the number of people who vote while increasing the number of useless posts. |

How about people with 100 or more posts etc be able to give thumbs up or down. Sders with more experience. I hardly ever use it myself. I don't really view the tu or td as if its a good deal or not. At first I thought only the mods were the ones who did the tu td.

Fewer than 4% of all members have more than 100 posts (and only 7% have 50 or more posts).
Having a 100-post minimum to give thumbs up/down would mean 96% of the members couldn't vote. IMHO, that's not a good thing. I'm missing the reasoning for making voting more restrictive. People need to realize that one or two thumbs either way don't really mean much. |

But I can understand why your saying it. Noone here said for a certain amount of post, then you could vote tu or td. It would be for everyone to comment. I personally don't look at the tu or td, its for other people who just don't take a deal, when clearly some are good according to what the OP put.

How bout radio buttons that let you choose 5 or so common thumbs down reasons (Scam, NOT a great price, REPOST, BAD REBATER ALERT, Other) something like that, and ONLY for thumbs down. Thumbs up, why bother, if everyone loves the deal, it'll be obvious right off.

I was suggesting an area just like the rep points where OP could go check feedback on thumbs up/down on his toppic, alot of people wont post suggestions for fear of being a threadcrapper, some people honestly dont think its a good deal, I just think it would deter the thumb down bandits.

just take the thumbs up or down thing off and keep the rep points... or i would do it with like a meter blue line i guess...of how many times the thread has been viewed and replied on.... Retired
