*Applications are live now*
Hope this helps someone.
Since this has been asked about 200,000 times: The miles will post after your first monthly statement closes and a few more days to get transferred to your BA account. Yes, even the first 50k miles will have to wait until your first monthly statement closes.
Direct link to offer -->
the above link is dead .. try the one below (added by rembran)
Sign up for BA Executive Club -->
(if you don't have one and you get approved, they automatically make you one...but I created one for myself anyway before applying)
As is posted in the message:
Once you apply, here's an auto application status to check the application status:
then press #, the 1, then enter your SSN.

Be careful. British airways charges more in fuel surcharges for comparable trip than does american airlines.
Round trip fee from US to Europe may average $350 in fees for a "free ticket". American Airline compares with about $91 in fees for "free ticket".
See post 795
Flying on AA using BA miles does not appear to incur fuel surcharges. For example JFK-MIA using BA miles costs $5 in booking fees which is the same as using AA miles. http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=
NOTE: To redeem BA miles for AA flights or some other partner, you still must do it through BA. If the flight doesn't show up on the BA website, you need to call BA. You do not call AA. You do not transfer miles to AA. However you can still check AA award availability on the AA website if you want, but only look at the SAAver awards. The AA "AAnytime awards" are NOT available when redeeming BA miles.
Card says Visa Signature on the face if you got that one approved.
If you're not sure you'll be spending $2k in 3 months, do this:
Buy $2000 worth of US currency direct from the US Mint for face value and free shipping
Go here: link
Buy $2k worth of $1 coins with your new card ($500 limit for each president)
Deposit the coins, pay off your card, and enjoy the miles. TN
**The US Mint has been sending out letters on recent purchases due to recent usage since it has gotten back to them that most people are buying the coins as a way to gain points/mileage. Just be careful on the purchases.**
Added directly from USMint website: The purchase of $1 coins under the Circulating $1 Coin Direct Ship Program is a cash equivalent or cash-like transaction. Ordinarily, such purchases are not eligible for credit card rewards, cash-back, cash rebate, and similar programs. Check with your card issuer for its terms and conditions. - Purchases from the mint have ALWAYS been cash equivalent purchases.
Added directly from credit card link above: You do not earn BA Miles on balance transfers, cash advances, cash-like charges such as travelers checks, foreign currency, and money orders, any checks that are used to access your account, ...
US Mint purchases will not work anymore

Possible Gotcha in deal: From terms of card application: "You will first be considered for a Visa Signature card. If you do not qualify for that product, you will automatically be considered for a Visa Platinum card, which has different fees, benefits, and credit availability."
If you are planning to apply, get approved and then cancel the card to avoid the $75 annual fee, remember that cancellation has negative impact on credit history. However, canceling newer credit cards has lesser negative impact than canceling an older card (is this correct grammar, less negative )
COMBINE YOUR POINTS!
"As an Executive Club member you can invite up to six people to join a Household Account. A Household Account enables you to pool your BA Miles with the other members of your household, so that you can enjoy the membership benefits of the Executive Club collectively." -- LINK
