Thanks OP for this deal.

Now I am thinking whether I should keep this cuz originally I am interested in getting BB BF Sony 15" laptop. For $80 more, it has a better C2D processor, 1GB more memory and 70GB more hard drive space and a better looking design (plus quality and design of keyboard and mouse pad). I am even thinking to pay $80 more for the Blu-Ray drive. What do you think, is the Sony worthy for the extra $80 or this MSI has a actually runs competitively against that Sony and the difference are really not noticeable other than the outside design? Thanks for any suggestion.
Looking at the specs the Sony has a Pentium Dual Core T4200 or T4300 which are at best 5-8% quicker in passmark then Intel Celeron T3000 and definitely not noticeable in real life. The MSI has number pad and Sony doesn't. The Sony is super vanilla and boring Intel 4 chipset with no overclocking capability or video color adjustments like the Nvidia 8200M G on MSI. I have worked on numerous Sony Vaio notebooks and I would rate their build quality and reliability definitely below MSI/Acer/Lenovo due to motherboard issues, bad chassis design, and proprietary component cables internally. Plus the 3 year warranty on MSI is a huge bonus. Sony should stick to BluRay players, ES A/V Receivers, and LCD HDTVs. All in all go with the MSI and you will be glad you did in the long run.

A real dumb noob question, but can I use my Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade disc (64 bit) I bought for my home computer and use that disc instead of downloading ISO image off the internet? Sorry for this incredibly simple question, but just didn't know if that ISO image has something different than my upgrade disc. Thanks!

it seems easy enough, but for right now i dont have a laptop capable of reflashing my ram sticks... so for now im stuck at 235fsb
Wow your stock DDR2 RAM is running stable @ 940Mhz? If so you could get away with DDR2 667 SPD to get very close to that 940Mhz and get maximum memory bandwidth. Whats your highest WEI CPU and RAM score on this notebook in Win7 64bit? Running at 278FSB 2.5Ghz I am at CPU - 6.0 and RAM - 5.9.

If anyone has one of these MSIs that they decided not to keep, I would very much appreciate the opportunity to buy it from them before they return it. Please PM me if you do. Thanks!!
All I'm going to say is that I've seen them on ebay and after bing cashback/ebay bucks - the price comes out a little cheaper than buying it at OD (considering no tax on ebay).

I got two of these as X-Mas presents (one for me, one for my sis, both from my mom). If I end up opening it on X-Mas and find I have a pixel problem will I still be able to exchange it being that it's a present and I just opened it on X-Mas?

I would call, or go to the store and only ask a manager that question. I think they are going to say you have only 14 days from purchase no matter what. If you get someone who tells you different, get a name.

What chipset are your other notebooks? Do you not have an Intel 4 or lower chipset to flash with? Luckily I am service manager of a local PC shop and I have 30 or so notebooks and PCs around my bench that I can choose from. ;-)

according to walmart u can still add it ...probably within 14 days
where did you get it for only $20 though? The price was $59.99 for 2 year service plan for laptops less than $400 i think. See here: http://www.walmart.com/search/sea...0&Find.y=0

Can you tell me which type of warranty you added for only $20 at Walmart so I can ask them? thanks.

In other news, Asus, Toshiba, and Sony are at the top for laptop reliability according to SquareTrade. Just a thought for the person asking about the sony and toshiba laptops for BF....MSI is not on the list of course. Acer, Gateway, and HP bring up the back end. This study could be skewed because the data may only come from people who bought SquareTrade warranties though.

my store got one of these in stock today, thanks to the op for the heads up on this deal...i have been watching local stock checker. i had to argue with the guy about whether or not they actually had it...they didn't even have it on display. then i showed him on the od website about how it showed they had one and he told me it was damaged, until another sales associate came up and told me that it was the other msi that was actually damaged and that one came into stock on the truck today. keep an eye out in your local area if you are looking for one still!

btw i picked up another one today for my pops, gonna return the acers and pick up 2 more if possible for my sister and girlfriend, if not ill throw this dual core celeron t3000 into one of the acers
ACK! Why would you return the acers when you can sell them for more!? Just pop them up on craigslist for $325 (cash only, of course)... at that price I guarantee they sell quickly.
