As for the blister, if you do any type of activity other than mild waking with polyester socks on your skin will rub against the plastic because plastic is smooth enough for your skin to slide on it. The polyester and skin will cause friction and you will get blisters. I am speaking from personal experience as a person who never has smelly feet or get blisters. Yet anytime I've purchased these store-bought brands that advertise moisture wicking or sports performance or whatever the hell and it's a multi pack for a few bucks made out of mostly poly... I ended up with blisters and super smelly feet.
I swear by the Jockey brand their socks are mostly cotton. Their socks are some of the best socks to hike/actually exercise with without having to spend $20 for a pair of specialty socks running socks/trail socks/REAL merino wool/smart wool.
If nothing else then think about this: the entirety of your body rests on the socks and then your sneakers. Do you really want to cheap out on the only article of clothing that you have as a barrier/cushioning/etc on your feet? Do you walk around with plastic bags on your feet? Then why use polyester socks?

When you purchase socks you should aim to get the most cotton blend that you can get. Anything that is synthetic especially polyester is mostly plastic plastic does not sweat. So the whole moisture wicking thing is PR bull because what ends up happening is it dries onto your feet, which results and extra smelly vinegar feet even if your feet never smell, as opposed to your cotton socks actually absorbing the sweat. Think about it, does plastic absorb water? Now look up what is polyester (literally plastic).

Look for Jockey brand socks. If you have Outlets close by, then tend to have a Jockey store. Definitely sign up for their members rewards. It is ABSURD how much discounting you get. Even if you order the socks from Jockey .com I swear to you that you'll start throwing out all your other socks. Jockey socks are the best. Been rocken em for decades now. Same with their men's underwear.
Which ones?
