Not able to set deal alerts via cell phone text message (SMS)
Hi, I want to set up deal alerts via mycell phone text message (SMS). But first I need to set up an account using my (firstname.lastname@example.org) as your main SlickDeals.net email address. However, in order to do this, slickdeals. net need to send to my phone email address an activate code. My carriers limit SMS size to 160 characters, including subject, email address, etc... I did receive an email message from slicksdeals.net . But I only can read "Dear, ... Welcome" I am not able to read the activate code in my phone SMS. Then I will never activate my account. And I am not able to set up my deals alert too.
Anyone has any suggestion. My phone is Sprint HTC touch Pro.
Just create a new filter for "@slickdeals.net" as the From email..and then click next, and enter your verizon email as the "forward" to field. Works for me. Messages will be truncated based on length..but this should get you started.
This feature would be so AWESOME, I'm soooooooo tired of missing deals when I'm on the go.
I had the same issue as the OP, being unable to verify the "e-mail" address on my phone (using email@example.com) because of the message be truncated. Perhaps a quick workaround would be to offer a "send text only option" when changing e-mails?
I attempted the mail forwarding thing when receiving emails from SD, but with Yahoo you have to upgrade to Mail Plus
