Slickdeals Live - Real time feed of what's happening on Slickdeals

Since this is a beta and all... it would be cool if:

• There was some kind of "SD Live Status" field that told you if it was up or (intentionally) down.
• You could permanently remove a thread from showing up in any of the lists.
• You could create your own live feed using keywords/search terms! Lets you hone in on exactly the gifts you are looking for on your list!
• Have an option to filter out thumbs down votes.
• Move Latest Threads to the left, latest posts to the middle and leave latest votes on the left. Makes more sense, since less updating on the left most side and more updating on the right side.
• Place the category icon of each new thread in the "latest threads" column.
• Option to turn on "always scrolling," so accidental mouse-overs does not stop the feed (no more "to be continued")

Can you also give a chance for the slickdeal member to have their own refresh frequency for the page. (And maybe a pause button to turn on/off the refresh so posts can be read.)

IMHO......
The whole concept is too dynamic with too much stuff moving. Bubbling columns is probably the best, it not as glamorous as all kind of stuff moving but it lets someone tell at a glance what is hot.
Most importantly , you need to introduce the concept of when people start a thread they also should enter the SD price and the street price into fields.
The street price can be by their own interpretation of reliable e-tailers (or by SD auto-magically querying a select group of e-etailers).
Other viewers can change the street price in wiki if they find something lower.

Now with those two pieces of critical data, the SD price and the street price, there is all kind of nice bubbling lists you can generate.
You can have a top 10 leader lists of most saved in absolute dollars or by percentage.
For example if somebody started a thread for a camcorder at a SD price of $500 and the lowest price from other retailers is $1000 then it would be on the absolute dollar savings leader board at $500 and on the percentage leader board at 50%.
Then have an alert system that can trip on CAMCORDER and a ABSOLUTE DOLLAR THRESHOLD level and maybe even further conditioned by an ABSOLUTE SAVINGS or PERCENTAGE SAVINGS trigger level.

The key is to getting the SD price into the thread start so that we can have more sophisticated alerts. I don't care if the HF200 is at $500, but I do care if its at $350.
Would be great if I can create my own Top-10 lists like camcorders, DVD player, and cellphone and i'd see the leader boards each for those items.

Just to throw in something I found. When I had my page layout set to the "midnite" background, you can't see the actual text of the post on the live page. I changed to Ice and now I am seeing text fine
