how to adjust screen size when using hdmi laptop to tv?

i connected my laptop to my lcd tv w/ a hdmi cable.. it is displayed on the tv too big. i cant see the menu bar on the bottom or the icons on my left side of windows. how can i adjust?

Look though the menus on your TV, turn off overscan in the video options. Some video drivers (like the ATI control panel) have options to compensate for that as well.

There may also be a setting or two about 'native' formats on the LCD.

try changing your screen resolution on laptop.

If there's not an "overscan" setting, as mentioned above, is there an "aspect ratio" or "picture size" button on the TV's remote? Or a similar setting in the menu? Play with the setting until it looks right.

do you have ati or nvidia chipset ?
