Smith and Wesson Sigma $50 rebate or 2 free magazine 01/01/2010-04/30/2010
It looks like Smith and Wesson renewed its promotion on Sigma series pistols. $50 rebate or 2 free magazine. 01/01/2010-04/30/2010. Sorry if repost. I have the 9mm pea shooter. Nice pistol for the price.

There's nothing wrong with free mags, but I just can't get behind these pistols. Striker-fired pistols are not new on the market, but it just seems like very few companies are getting anywhere close to delivering a truly reliable pistol without a hammer.
I wouldn't put my life on the line behind a Sigma even if they had a 100% mail in rebate. I've had them fail far too often on the range, and even had 2 out of 50 rounds fail to fire while shooting for my last CHL renewal with this design.
If you're buying a budget pistol, make sure it has a hammer. If you're dead-set on a striker, be ready to either spend the extra cash for a top-end firearm or get used to failures.
I have the .40 cal and don't think I would recommend it. I am not a gun expert by any means, but I like to plink every now and then, and the one I purchased doesn't shoot very true as well as a few other gripes that I have about it.
You can find these for $300 fairly regularly -- and I thought why not for that price, but compare to my Sig .22 P220, it was a night and day difference in feel and shootability. I know they are two different animals, I am just saying that I'd personally rather pay $100 more for a gun that I am happy with as opposed to a good deal on one that I bought as a slickdeal sight unseen (stupid I know).
The saving grace it has that I like is a high cap magazine so as a nightstand gun, I like having those extra rounds.

I was almost sold on this gun until I went to the store and held one. It didn't feel too bad but the trigger blows even by my amatuer opinion. I'd save the extra money and snag up a nice handgun. I believe budsgunshop.com has a pretty decent price on a sig 2022. (search it on the forum here) Also, glocks last for FOREVER. I've seen countless torture tests without a single failure. Look into police trade in glocks, they're usually a fair price.
