Went to Petoskey, MI HD last night and purchased 2 DeWalt 4 packs for a total of $380 out the door. I had a lowes 10% off from the post office moving pack. I was so excited. They had the 6 pack, but the price was still $629. They also had the Ryobi tec 4 but it was still $99. I don't know why they had some prices, but not all.
I was a the Oak Lawn (94th and Pulaski) Home Depot- they had a floor model miter left- it was obviously used as it was full of saw dust. It appeared to be complete (blade, wrench and dust bag). It was tagged at $449. When I asked the tool guy of that was as low as they could go he offered to knock it down a additional 10%. When I hit him with the $299 clearance price- I backed it up by showing him the prices on my phone- he laughed and proceeded to tell he "we will throw it out before we sell it for that price". So if anyone is up for a good argument- stop by and try to get it for $299. Please report back on your success... There was also 1 DeWalt 4 piece kit left- it was tagged at $269.
he laughed and proceeded to tell he "we will throw it out before we sell it for that price".
hmmm... i think home depot should retrain their employees in situations like this. they just look totally stupid when the next day they are told to mark the price down to $299. a polite, "sorry, we can't do that price right now..." would be sufficient and would look less dumb when he runs into the same customer the next day as he's putting on the $299 price tag...
a little off topic, but since we're talking about the milwaukee miter saw and i'm sure there are some tool fanatics following this thread, how would you compare the milwaukee 6955-20 (the one in this deal) to the hitachi C12RSH? i've read the individual reviews and i've played with both (have both, now that i got the milwaukee).... i'm planning to get rid of one of them, but i can't decide....
i love the sliding mechanism of the hitachi and the laser is actually usable... the milwaukee has a few degrees wider range.... the hitachi has weird mounting holes so i have to have a plywood board to 'adapt' to my miter stand (dewalt DW723)...

Searched for anything similar in previous postings but found nothing. Home Depot's website is difficult to search to say the least.
Employee told me, while discussint the table saw, these may be specific to stores due to low sales- my store never sold one- they have 3 on the floor and 2 of them just arrived.
Massive YMMV, I'll be heading back tomorrow and will try to get sku's and such.
Everything is complicated when you first look at it. Complicated things always break down into simplier parts. Simple things are easy to fix when you understand how stuff works. The trick is remembering how everything works.
