So with all of the talk about the monoprice antenna for $22, I thought I would share this deal that I found.

At Big Lots, I picked up a TriQuest Amplified Indoor Antenna for 9.99. I have tried it out , and it works pretty well for me. Without much adjustment, I picked up a couple of channels from Winston-Salem/Greensboro, which is about 50 miles away, and I was able to pick up all of the Charlotte channels except 1 or 2. Performance might vary according to your location.

Reviews are kind of mixed, but leaning towards "good to try for ten bucks"

The only problem i have is that the coax cable is really short. I might actually pick up a couple more, and take apart 1 of them to look@ the amplifier section, maybe with a little patience and some soldering skill, I can make an in-line amplifier for $10, these normally sell for $35-$40

EDIT: Oops, the other antenna is from monoprice, not meritline

I was going to post something about this antenna, but didn't because Big Lots is no longer restocking it. Very, very few stores in SoCal still carry it (and once they sell out, they don't get any more). They do carry non-amplified TriQuest antennas, but those are not worth getting. I've purchased a bunch of the amplified ones and generally they work pretty well. But some of the same model work better than others, so I've returned a few too.

FWIW, the Big Lots near me in Mooresville NC has quite a few. I am going to pick up 2 or 3 more tomorrow and fiddle with 1 of them

Bought one tonight, worked out of the box. Not bad for 10 bucks, my area only offers 6 channels. Mainly bought it to get hd abc.

My big lots had 8 of them. Thanks for the tip.
