So I saw one of the Dewalt clearance drill sets in upstock at a local store. Go back the next day, but thought I might need something to help the process of having someone get it down for me. I grabbed a piece of paper, wrote down the sku number, the store number and the store phone number on it.

I grabbed a person, showed them the paper, said another store called over to check stock and they brought it down. They scanned it and saw it was a penny. Now managers are involved and show it to them too. I said I was at a local store, they called over to this store and were told they had it in stock.

Manager said he would sell it for $20 and my bet is without that story it would have been lost.

This is 100% false - it is inventory online+1

My local stores always show "item not sold at this location" or:

Out of stock
Somerville # 2667

and my success rate at hunting when that shows has been total failure. Haven't had a good hit in months.

Maybe I can say hello to the local stores through this thread -- are you reading that??

Found a stash of some of the brass well fittings last night. Mixed in with the regular stock. Stock checker for those SKUs showed nothing, but yet they were there.

What he meant by that was that if the store has 4, online will show 3. If store has 2, online will show 1. If store has 1, online will show Out of Stock(0). And it isn't always true just because sometimes stores will goof on their inventory or they will take it out of inventory and forget to take it off of shelf. I saw it display -5 on the inventory checker before because they took these water filters out of inventory so that it showed 0, but then someone snatched them up before they took them off the shelves lol

I think it's really dependent on how good your store is at pulling the merchandise from the floor. For instance, one of the stores I shop at is very good about pulling stock when it reaches the 1 cent level. Now this store normally isn't very busy.

However, another store that is closer to where I work is another story. They are pretty good about pulling stuff from the floor, but they are terrible about checking the overstock. I have found a good amount of stuff there. I just got another moen lindley faucet last week. What is strange is that the inventory checker has been showing zero for months, but I've found a total or four. In fact there is another bath faucet that is in store in the overstock that I have been looking for when I stop by every now and then. There are two of them, and I know they are behind some other boxes. But I haven't found someone yet that is willing to dig for them. I'm tempted to self-help one of these days.

My area is the same. I think there is a new sheriff (district manager) in town as everything disappears as soon as it is supposed to drop to the .03 level. I'm just biding my time though because I know they will get lazy again before long.

Being that you're the original poster, that sucks. If it wasn't for you and the thread you created, I wouldn't have had the privilege of experiencing the adrenaline pumping rush of scoring an item each and every time, let alone a complete garage wall full of stuff. Then again, should I be blaming your for my new found hording tactics? jk.

I too have 2-sets of stores that items get cleared instantly and the challenge of scoring at these stores is definitely more gratifying. I personally feel the manager(s) of these stores are actually on this thread and I'm sometimes cautious of what I post. The goal with these stores is to score an item within 24 hours of them reaching the .01 level. This would require more time invested. Hint: Stores are based on regions. All regions should have more than one store. Use one store to gain insight with another.
