Thread Details

(At one time this thread was rated -5 only because of trashing by SD members which was subsequently cleaned up by moderator. See post #10)

Ryobi router table Model A25RT07, UPC 033287140992, Item 933016, for easy shelf ID the box boldly reads 392 sq inch working surface. Rang up as a penny.

updated title 3/21/10 to include more than just one cent items as some have taken liberty to post general finds, which is fine.

Anyone know HD policy for when an item is up on the top shelf, on a pallet, wrapped in plastic, with about 25 other different products? I assume that they are all 'clearanced'. I would like to talk an employee into going up there and opening that all up. Are they allowed to do that?

These are new products, not clearance products. Although its possible they could wrap some clearance items in plastic, before they ship it back to the manufacturer, if you see 25 then its most likely new.

I was speaking to a manager in fort worth the other day. They just got notified of a new procedure for resell-able returns and disco products. They will be sending them to a distribution center if they cannot RTV. Home depot will be launching a outlet store online in the next few mos. This might just kill the .01 deals.

That is interesting. They could dominate the resale market for their discontinued stuff. It still depends on overworked employees pulling items in a timely fashion. Some stores seem to not care.

I see lots of discontinued tiles (multiple SKUs on a sheet)on top shelf wrapped in plastic on pallets. Anywhere from 1 case to 10 cases
I find the most mornic looking apron and ask them to get them down for me. sometimes I get away with it, sometimes it draws too much attention and someone hand scans them and calls the manager. Depending on the manager, he will let them go for a penny....once for 10 cents per sheet and a few times it was a NO WAY!

Sometimes it's better to find the more naive looking apron, rather than judging them as being moronic looking.

LOL that must be a nice way of saying lazy SOB's because EVERY hd withing 50 miles of 20852 are a bunch of lazy bums, I think if HD cut the fat from about 5 local stores they would have better prices.

I have never tried that. I saw some outdoor fountains that were at 1 cent on a pallet with shrink wrap, and just walked on by. Maybe I will go back and see if I can find a naive employee to get it for me. If I saw 25 pallets of shrink wrapped clearance items, I would end up being banned from that store.

Dude, if it weren't for the slow moving employees we would not be reading this thread.

This is true but still, I can't tell you how many times I've been in a HD where they're just standing around chewing the fat in groups of three or more, or so involved in texting they don't see you standing right in front of them. One time a girl was texting and I asked her if they had any glue in the store other than in the paint area and without looking up she points to her left and says "paint is that way"

I generally use their inattentiveness to my advantage when I'm searching for the penny items or doing price checks on the store computers.

They used to have actual B&M outlet stores for that stuff, so that may or may not change things. It may or may not be related, but does anyone know why the .03 price is not the standard 75% off anymore. Was waiting for an outdoor deckbox to drop, original $129, dropped to $70.00, missed the .06 price, but now it's $77.03. any knowledge?
