Some here, except I did the dell credit card deal to save $9. I don't know what the status of that is now but toes that mean they hit my credit report and opened another line in my name? That's BS if it is.

Here is what I say when it comes to Dell: "As usual with Dell, unless there is tracking info, it may or may not ship. You never know if they call it a price mistake and cancel."

For future reference, quote it whenever referring someone to Dell. If the order is canceled, for whatever reason (as there are many), it should be expected. If it ships, you are a hero.

This deal is gonna cost me big.

Now my wife wants to walk into a BM and get a laptop - today - as this was for her. There were a couple other ones since this I could have gotten in on.

What a pain in the ass.

Mad

Yep, that's opportunity cost and it's costing you. You've been denied the opportunity to spend your money otherwise (on other laptop sales), because (like many of us) you expected this to be fulfilled.

This is absolutely unacceptable for a company like Dell... it's inexcusable given their size and the sophistication of their infrastructure. Whatever reason they're giving for non-fulfillment is absolute bullsh$t.

Dell cannot possible run out of computers? They put together and sell them. That's the purpose of their business. Just b/c they ran out premade ones, that's what I'm assuming is meant by the "fast Track" ones, doesn't mean they are sold out. If they cared enough they could put together some new ones to replace the old ones that are sold out. The only way they are actually sold out, is if they ran out of parts. Just my 2cents.

Bingo...

The timing is what's got me hosed here. I only had x-amount of time to get a new laptop before drawing wife-aggro. I'd better pull another deal quickly to reduce the damage.

The automated phone system said that my order shipped on 2/1 and arrived on 2/3 (lies!). Still no tracking number listed and according to CS today its still "in production". Best of luck for yours though.

Yea i'm not putting much stock in what the automated system is saying. The funny thing is, all of the CSRs I've talked to say my system is completed and it just awaiting the carrier. That's been going on for almost 3 days now. *sigh

ok I got the right information after all the speculations arose due to all the different comments here in SD. Orders with the vista and pentium td4300 were cancelled but are being replaced for the ones with windows 7 and the other processor. I called and they explained that to me, that is why they sent a cancellation e-mail. However, if you call they will not cancel your order. Indtead they will replace it with the window 7 unit.
I have had orders where the CPU had to change and the contact they made was to ask if this was OK. It was, so they sent another message explaining the order change with a new order number for the update.

If it's just a matter of changing the OS, why didn't they say so? What am I saying--this is Dell?!
