No luck for me - transferred to six departments in 1 hour and 40 minutes...
finally made it back to where I started - order modification and was told by fake supervisor Morris that orders can only be changed within 7-days of order placement. and to PAY FULL WEB PRICE.

where do they hire these people? worst customer service... and talk like chimps.
Dell sucks.
Honestly, it didn't do any good to talk to those idiots who work in CS and order modification etc. I think the only reason why I got a price match was because I screamed so loud to everyone I could. (You can read my past posts) It eventually went to their escalation dept or resolution dept. They are the ones that helped me out and made it right. Thankfully.

I wasn't trying to take advantage of this deal and buy 20 units I was merely buying my SO a birthday gift for as little as possible. (Hey I'm broke)

I'm very glad they honored my original purchase. It arrives tomorrow. But what a F**king joke that was trying to get it. (17 days later)

Agree with you, I moved on too. I'm expecting my laptop to come tomorrow. Ended up getting a VAIO, let's see if the build quality is what they say...my brother's is awesome.

I will be staying away from Dell for a VERY long time. The worst part of this entire situation was a week after this all went down and I realized I wasn't getting the Inspiron 1545, I went on their website and went to purchase a Inspiron 14 (the new model with i3), and couldn't use the coupon they sent me. So after calling 3 times and being told, oh sorry we can't even find the price you see, and we can't do anything about the coupon... I flat out told them, I will buy this laptop right now if you can make the coupon work, all I got was a simple "No" and they hung up on me. Great business model...can't wait for the VAIO

I would imagine the odds are really slim of anyone reading this, but hey...

I got totally jerked around on this deal, my story is so long it's totally not worth repeating. I will just say that I wasted (literally) hours and hours going round the Dell phone merry-go-round to get them to honor this laptop price, only to be repeatedly jerked in different directions and I got absolutely nowhere. Two people would tell me "no problem" then three more would tell me "no can do". I finally gave up from exhaustion and exasperation.

The company I work for is looking to standardize on a new brand of laptops for rollout to our employees. This week we decided against standardizing on Dells and we will be using Lenovo Thinkpads as our corporate standard instead. My detailed anecdotes about Dell customer service played a significant part in this decision, and rightfully so. I'm happy to say that what I told the last Dell rep on the phone came true: "I promise you, as an IT professional, that because of the way I've been treated by Dell, that it will cost some exponentially larger amount in the future. Maybe a lot, maybe almost nothing, but I will never endorse Dell in a professional situation in the future."

As it turns out, they are missing out on approximately $250,000 worth of gross sales (refreshing about 150 laptops over the next 18 months). Does Dell REALLY care? Probably not. I'm guessing it's not significant in the larger Dell picture. But just think, it would have only cost them like 100 bucks (if that) to own up to their mistake and make a customer happy - not to mention the hours of my time they wasted by saying they would honor it, and then reneging the offer yet again.

Anyways, my story has a happy ending. Screw you Dell. Screw.You. heart
