I used the 20% off coupon a few weeks ago to pick up the Serta Perfect Sleeper Courtland Plush Queen mattress and boxspring for right around $400. This would be a slightly better deal - around $380 plus tax. I think it's a decent mattress.

My wife was also in Big Lots last week looking for a twin boxspring and mattress for our 3 year old when the sales person told her of the deal. I was kind of surprised they actually said anything to her about it and didn't just let her pay the $200. We'll probably upgrade the mattress slightly now since the boxsprings will only be $10. Was kind of wondering if she dreamed it, but at least now I have confirmation. Smilie

Is this just for one day or can we use the Big Lots friends and family 20% off Sunday, Feb 21?

Here's a link to the 20%

Not sure if Buzz Club Rewards will work with this deal to save 20%, but I'll certainly ask tomorrow when I go to buy.

How do the prices for mattresses at Big lots compare to other stores?

The quality of these mattresses are pretty bad (in terms of comfort, not durability). They're really only appropriate for guest bedrooms.

To parents: please don't buy your kids the cheapest mattress you can find (if you can afford it I mean, obviously some people can't). Their comfort is important too, don't try to save a buck because they're too ignorant to complain and it doesn't affect you personally.

These are Serta mattresses, it's not like they are made in someone's basement. Are there better made mattresses out there? Well of course but there is nothing wrong with these and there are far worse out there. I'm sure for some people they'd throw their nose up at anything bought from Big Lots. If you feel better then go ahead and spend more at Sear's or somewhere else that sells Serta.

I picked up the same set (Courtland Queen) for $320 plus tax on the first day of the (last) coupon (sale). If you have a current Buzz Club 20% off coupon or if the sale lasts to the F&F coupon day (which I don't think it will), then this will be hot.

BTW, I also posted some deals for matresses at Macys in another thread...

The last time they had this we got a Serta® Boulevard Plush Twin Mattress [biglots.com] for $149.99 +$10 for the box. The Serta® Arrington Firm is thin and crappy. Sepend the extra $50 on the Boulevard Plush.

I'd say that's a wise choice. I've read some good reviews on the Boulevard. I'll be heading over in the morning to purchase. Hopefully I'll get to save another 20% with buzz rewards.

You realize that brand names don't sell the same models at every store right? They have budget lines, designed especially to be sold at stores like Walmart and Big Lots so that the brand name and price will grab your eye. I'm not saying that every mattress at a budget store is crap, but try it out and don't just buy it because it's a brand name and it's cheap. IMO, the ones at Big Lots are typically crap.

I wouldn't buy a Mattress at Sears because they don't haggle with prices and Mattresses are very much like cars in that the prices are always flexible. But I'm not under the impression that the items I see marked "Serta" at Sears are the same ones I'm seeing at Big Lots. In general I avoid places like Big Lots because they don't have the models on a display and nowhere else sells them, so you can't try them before you buy. It's idiotic to buy a mattress because of brand name and price that you never lie on until it's paid for and in your house already. If you try it and you love it, then by all means buy it. Who am I to influence your preference?
