tee: Initial Question/Comment: i made a purchase during the promo time date of dec for the ink recycle $6 deal plus buy the duracell deal plus buy $60 worth of hp ink but I did not get any reward credit or see it on my online account. Help?

Welcome to Staples Rewards Live Help!

A Customer Service Agent will be with you shortly

Todd S. has joined this session!

Connected with Todd S.. Your Reference Number for this chat is 8027.

Todd S.: One moment please.

tee: work with me on this todd. thank you

Todd S.: Last quarter you purchased batteries on December 18, for which you earned $12.99 in Rewards. That same day you purchased $59.98 worth of HP Ink, for which you earned 20% back in Rewards.

Todd S.: We also see that you purchased another pack of batteries on December 22, for which you earned $12.99 in Rewards.

Todd S.: Your total Reward amount for the quarter was $37.98.

tee: i checked online and I do not see a reward

tee: i also do not see any reward mailing to the house either

tee: the promo for the time I bought the hp ink is buy 2 hp, get $60 or something like that. buy batteries get it for free after rewards

Todd S.: Purchase Rewards are issued 3-4 weeks after the close of each quarter. Last quarter closed on December 31. A $38 Reward coupon was mailed on January 15, and Redeemed on February 14.

tee: yes I used the $38 reward coupon but that one was from a friend who also has his own rewards card.

tee: Instead of using his card to make that 38 purchased, I used mine by mistake

Todd S.: What is your Staples Rewards customer number?

tee: if you can fix it, his number is 2xxxxxxxxx

tee: my number is 2xxxxxxxxx

Todd S.: one moment

Todd S.: Staples Rewards coupons are non-transferable.

Todd S.: Customer numbers 2xxxxxxxx and 2xxxxxxxx have been linked as one account.

Todd S.: Regardless of which card is used while shopping, all transactions will now track to the same customer number.

tee: it should be different since we both signed on different days

tee: both addresses are different as well

Todd S.: Accounts become linked for one of two reasons:

Todd S.: 1 - they share the same mailing address

Todd S.: 2 - Reward coupons earned from one account are applied to a purchase on another account.

tee: we are from different address when we signed up. I did not use any rewards coupon because I did not get any since i applied for my card. my friend made his purchases recently and I scanned my card by mistake.

tee: we just did an online rebate by using his card for $14.99 x 2 and I did mine for $14.99 x 1. If it is linked, we have another problem since rebate for this item is 1 per household. We are from 2 separate household.

Todd S.: Although different address are listed, the terms of the program has been violated. The primary customer number is now 2xxxxxxxx. The accounts cannot be unlinked.

tee: we both did the deal in dec 09. we both signed up for new card account during that time frame. No transaction was made that would void the terms of the program up until feb 14th purchase. He got his rewards but I did not. Had I gotten my rewards the same time he has, none of this would be of an issue.

Todd S.: We apologize, but the accounts will not be unlinked.

tee: then tell me why did I not get my rewards for dec 09

tee: the link happens on the 14th of feb 2010 and that I can understand. Why I did not get my rewards for dec 2009 deal is what I'm getting at

Todd S.: The same exact Reward amounts were issued for both customer numbers. Identical transactions were made. Three out of the four issued Rewards were redeemed. The names are the same, and the address are only slightly different.

Todd S.: This is one account. Any Reward not redeemed will not be reissued.

tee: if you plug you the account number online, my card has my name as xxxxxx and his card has it as xxxxxx. How can we both be the same person? my friend received all of his rewards, $60 for ink and $38 for batteries and I received nothing. There are only 2 rewards being redeemed. Where is the 3rd one and what did they purchase on what item?

Todd S.: Two $60 Rewards and one $38 Reward were redeemed on February 14 at the Staples on

Todd S.: 249 Commerce Avenue

Todd S.: Manteca, CA

Todd S.: 95337

tee: that is incorrect. Only 1 $60 rewards were redeemed and 1 $38 were redeemed at that store on feb 14th. 2 transactions were made only

Todd S.: We apologize, but we are unable to further assist you in this matter. Again, the policy was violated and the accounts will not be unlinked.

tee: so if i returned the products, what will the account rewards be now? 60x2 and 38?

Todd S.: You may be able to return the items, depending on the store return policy, but the Rewards will not be refunded.

tee: you can tell me what was being purchased for the 60 and another 60 and the 38

tee: i have here with me 2 chairs and 3 calculator printer items which was what my friend bought

Todd S.: We can no longer be of any assistance to you. The accounts are linked, the Rewards will not be reissued.

tee: for the record, you said this "Todd S.: Two $60 Rewards and one $38 Reward were redeemed on February 14 at the Staples on"

tee: I'm just clarifying to what was being purchased for that statement

Todd S. has left this session!

The session has ended!

Bad customer service or am I approaching this the wrong way?

Sorry for what you've been through and the lost. I thumped up the thread since I saw it useful for me. Repped ya for posting this information, otherwise I never knew about it. I only have 1 Staples reward card, and only purchase at Staple if they had great deal and thing I need. Staples used to be a great company with price match and honor rebates, but they went down with new manager team. Worse customer service, rude agents, rude cashiers, rude store managers. I called, chatted with Staples agents several times. When they could not answer your question, they hang up or offline to run away.

Staples has exceptional customer service. I could not be any happier with everything they do and you will find 95% of the people here agree with me.

This guy is obviously not the buddy I used in my short story. He is just a SDer who understands the needs of concern to why it is not a good idea to use someone else card to make your own purchase. Like I said before, bestbuy, safeway, costco, bevmo all do not do this linking system of theirs.

"Repped ya for posting this information, otherwise I never knew about it"

The quote above is a real life testimonial to why such thread is working and it is for the little people who does not know about this information. If I know about it, would you think I would make such mistake by using my card to make a purchase with my friend's rewards coupon?

People here are saying that I'm trying to scam staples. I store rob them but I do not scam them. If I was a scamrobber, I would go for the bigger piece of the pie and try to get me a free Cadillac. This is a small time, chump change issue for crying out loud. You SDers are store robbing and slinging it on Ebay so now what?

SELF-OWNAGE!111!!!! wave
There are many ways to store rob and do it in a more professionally setting then lets say trying to scam the system. Scamming is if I print out my own money or print out my own rewards coupon. Note the distinction.

If you know the tricks on how to do a double reward for yourself then you too are a store robber. If you do not then it is obviously that you are them people who roll their eyes on all them other SDers who have beaten the system. I did not make two accounts for myself. I just made one for myself and my friend made one. I did not go into that staples store on feb 14th with my shadow and trying to do a transaction twice.

If I am a scammer, would I do just 2? A real scammer would do 10+ and try to win that scammer of the year award. Now what?

Well, there's 4 Staples stores within a 20 mile radius of you. So you decided to scam 50% of them with your duplicate account. Kudos on getting caught by an online chat agent.

If you went into the same store twice and recycled in the same month, they mighta caught you sooner. So saying 10 accounts would be leet is moronic.

Thanks for my new signature by the way. worship

Your math is off.

Ink deals for dec 09 was buy $60 worth of hp ink and recycle 10 inks, gets double the points at $3 a piece. That is where the $60 is coming from. I did it with my card and my friend, your buddy, did the same transaction to get his $60. That online chat agent is a fruit cake because his info is skewed. If his info was legit, he would have easily given me the info I needed to shut me up but he ran like an azz. Todd. S, you are an azz.

True that what has been linked, can not be undone. They figured out that there was a fluke in the system like how some of us are not getting our rewards or rebate and it happens. I'm not asking for them to unlink these cards but I'm getting my $60 regardless. Once I'm done using my $60, my card will now belong to my friend's card as I am going to make my new card to start from fresh again.

My situation is so simple to understand and I don't even know why it is so hard for other people to not see the light that I'm seeing. They are prosecuting me like a Jesus Christ but at least the dude got a trial.

Hmm I think people are prosecuting you because the situation only pertains to you. This thread isn't very useful though either.

Well that's no fun. Being a slick dealer with that selfish attitude for thy self is like buying the whole inventory on the display floor and leaving none left for another slick dealer member.

oh you didn't know this? Well this thread is for you and glad it puts an awareness to ya.

I checked both cards numbers online and it shows not link and the name and addie on both are nothing the same.

Only way for you to figure this one out is to find online chat agent Todd. S and asking dude if he is having a good day today.

Wow, you need to take ethics101 if you think you are not stealing from Staples. No matter how many times you try to justify it, the bottom line is still the same: You got busted for scamming Staples! To come on here and whine about getting caught is just sad.

You and your friend have a funky relationship then. LOL

Me and my friend shops together and when I deal with Todd S, he is sitting right next to me so now what?

Our card numbers starts with a 2 and looks similar because we came into staples and made our card together to get onto the deal. Now what?

Getting busted would yield our accounts to be inactive or void. It is still working and still shows different names and different addie and different everything else on their system when I checked it online. Robbing staples is a loosely term that I used for getting a deal at such stores. If you see it as an actually case of robbing staples, like I said, I would have wipe them out with not 2 but 10 times 10 cards and accounts.

update on my issue

So I finally got my $60 rewards coupon. I PM for the brothers fax machine against OD with total around the $20 range. The machine shoots me out the difference of $40 in rewards coupon and they took the rebate form and all because I did a pricematch. They say that my next buy with the $40, I have to use it all. No problem here at all since I am going to process my rebate online anyway.

I PM this samsung printer against OM, used 25 off coupon, used trade in old printer for $50 and use this $40 rewards coupon = $10 out the door and hoping to get a fat rebate. How do you like me now?
