User Submitted Deal Sites [] This site searches and compares Expedia,,, Holiday Inn, Priceline,, Marriot and more so you can always get the best price. Yapta is still BETA... it cannot store information on most airlines. But it will search for your BOUGHT tickets as well, and get you a refund if the price goes down. This is the only site that will do that. Great booking bonuses (i.e. free giftcards, etc...) Travel-Ascending Discount Travel [] [] Opens up new airline sites in popups (for thorough searches) has good vacation package rates that don't show up on the travel searches have not seen any prices better than this site [] this site has great deals they are somewhat new but have gotten a lot of press check it out
you do have to sign up first, but they will not spam you. If you are ever going on a humanitarian or mission trip (working with some kind of a non-profit), don't book your airfare until you've checked first. With contracts from airlines for (oftentimes significantly) lower fares if it qualifies as a humanitarian flight. They can also book air originating from any country, not just the USA.

Do airline flights vary by day? Do airline flights go up or down closer to the holidays (Christmas)? Or should you book in advance for best prices? Any suggestions. Want to go to FL to visit mom for Christmas

Yes, flights vary frequently...
Typically at least 21 days before travel is best - studies show that rates are best on Tuesdays in the afternoon, believe it or not.
You can look at fare predictors on various sites like and which can help you find the best fares.
Also look at multiple airports near where you are leaving and going to for the best deal.
Holiday travel is usually costly and difficult - think delays.
Look at alternate days to leave and return. ex: when will most people fly, try another day if your schedule permits.

travelling to San Francisco for our 11 month old. Anyone have recommendations for hotels? Need a hotel that has suites because the baby will sleep in a crib in a separate room (if she knows we are in the room she will never fall asleep). would like the hotel to be walking distance to local attractions if possible (i know that will be $$$$ but thats what slickdeals is for! Smilie )

I am traveling to Chad in the fall and Southern Sudan next spring. My question is two-fold. First, does anyone have any advice or travel tips for Chad, specifically near the Eastern border with Sudan. Also, I am very interested in becoming a travel writer and traveling to these kind of places. Any advice on how to get started, ie. getting writing gigs, funding, etc.?

Try and check travel sites early Tuesday mornings at like 6am. My friend told me that's when airlines release their flights. It has worked for me in the past. Flights absolutely go up closer to the holidays. You will find no more expensive tickets than closer to Christmas and Thanksgiving. I would try and book my flight as far in advance as possible.
