Problems scanning Q's at SCO? First posted here:

Credit for this goes to Skibum - On the SCO at Safeway if your coupon doesnt scan you can manually input the numbers using the enter PLU function. Basically its the option where you would enter produce.

A coupon database is available at www.Families.com once you've registered there. Good resource for checking availability & location of coupons for specific items you're interested in. (Thx to errickson for the info!) Another great one is available at www.coupontom.com [http]. And the nice thing here, you don't have to register!

This thread has good info on what coupons are available, what insert they were in and the date.

Also keep in mind the Entertainment Book typically has money saving coupons for Safeway listed quarterly. And, if your store doesn't object, these coupons sometimes do not beep based on dates.

Coupon use at Safeway
Safeway usually issues store specific coupons via various formats...newspaper ads, mailers & emails. You can sign up for emails on their website.

Their coupons tend to scan fine at any store within their brand, even if the stores are not in the same area. For example, Tom Thumb coupons work at Randall's, and vice versa.

Their coupons also tend to scan fine at any store within their brand, even if the coupon says it's good only at a certain store. The best example of these are the ones issued when a store is remodeling or for a grand opening.

Usually, their coupons scan fine when you are using two different types of their coupons on one product. For example, $1 off Tide from a newspaper ad and $2 off Tide from some other source. This only works when the two coupons are obviously different (check the codes). I am not sure if it would work if you were only buying one item and trying to use two store coupons. I've never had a reason to test that.

Their coupons can be used in conjunction with manufacturers coupons, even if that causes an overage, although they won't pay you to take products out of the store! laugh out loud

Some stores don't accept internet printable coupons, there is a corporate policy on what coupons they take, and some stores follow this policy to the nth degree. If you get to one of these stores, try the store down the street, it is probably much more coupon friendly.

Manufacturer coupons for free or bogo items tend to attempt to give you credit for the price of the item without the card discount, but they usually beep for the cashier to approve the coupon.

Self Checkout lanes (SCOs) are a great way to get out of the store quickly. You can use your coupons except all BOGO, FREE and coupons over $3.00 (may be $2) require cashier intervention. This can be a hassle if you have very many of these type of coupons. You will also have trouble if you're buying a clearanced product that has the % off tag that has to be scanned.

Stores in different areas have different promotional deals regarding the doubling and/or tripling of coupons. If you see someone commenting on it here, you need to check what your local store does.

And while coupons may scan fine, the cashier you're dealing with can make any of the above YMMV. Smilie

wave Has anyone tried the bounty 2-pack ($2.99 w/ SQ) and had the $3 P&G eQ deduct?

Aloha my Hawaiian neighbors! I have a favor to ask. Please Could someone PM me the best area to move to in HI? We've moved several times within the state and still have j4u unavailable. All this packing, planning, and waiting is getting tedious. Yes, I've found the eQs, but none of our relocations have unlocked personalized deals, etc. Thanks for your help. Now back to surfing... Surf
I charmin toilet paper did NOT deduct for me... guessing the bounty one wont either...

all my new found HI neighbors, be thankful you're living in virtual hawaii! the cashiers, even jedi ones, have been trained to wait for you to input your card # before scanning coupons. so now, not only do we not have doubles, pay higher prices, but we also don't do EQ and physical coupons. when you try this happens:

BEEP, BEEP and that ain't the road runner.

looks like SCO might be our only friend hawaiians!

thanks for the help, but making these deals work in HI is getting harder & harder : )

Asst. Mgr, who rang me up, told another asst mgr that they had just gotten a memo that stated they must wait for guest to scan card before scanning any coupons. I know I've seen that mentioned before. I don't have SCO, so I've never even tried to get my Qs scanned before my card.

The dairy Q books were taken down from my store. Total bummer, because I had wanted to grab one and use the International Delight Q in there. And my store STILL does not have the grill books. They have signs advertising them, but no actual books. Very annoying.

I bought a Glad Variety Pack of containers on sale for $3.00, reg price $6.69. Used the free Glad product WYB Kingsford Charcoal IP and it autoed $6.69! Cashier didn't change the price even though the coupon has a stated max of $3. Helped pay for some of the Shanghai dinner. Smilie

I just finished up a box of powdered Tide from that PG deal a while ago. The outside of the box says there are $3 in coupons inside. One of the coupons is for $1 off ANY size tide. This should work on those individual boxes that are usually priced from .97 - $1.07. Hope it helps someone. The q doesn't expire until 6/2012.

The $2 P&G Downy e-coupon and $1 or $2 paper coupon (some Tide boxes have had $2 Downy coupons inside) should make for cheap 60 load Downy ($0.49-$1.99, depending on whether your store doubles and what coupon you have)

That is the case at all the Safeway I shop. The cashier always asks for the card before they do any coupon scanning. As for the SCO question, you can scan coupons first before club card. I just ignore the computer voice reminder telling me to scan the card. LMAO

New Goldfish Grahams $.75 Q on SC Smilie

As to the grilling books, my local (NorCal) meat dept. knew about the books and said they "hope" to get them. My store tends to get their coupon books late so I, too, am holding out hope. Although, I haven't seen any monthly Q books in the shampoo/soap aisle since the March book. Frown

Thank you! I hope this CAT is available in NorCal. This would be a lovely way to buy some O Organics live basil, etc. bounce
One SBux 4 pack @ 3.99 minus $1 (5-2 SS) +
3 live basil plants minus 3 O Organics $1 Qs (at SCO or with jedi)
= $5.96 and get $5 onyo.
That's a lot of basil, but I'm sure we can find good substitutes. For 96 cents, I might just buy and give the extra basil away. Smilie

That's a great idea! I just hope my floral department carries these. May I ask where the O Organics $1/1 is from?
