My on the go snacks include hard boiled eggs, olives, almonds, string cheese, meat sticks, pickles etc. I'm such a carnivore that low carb agrees with me. The one thing I always battle when i go back low carb is I get really bad headaches. I call it carb withdrawl. I think the official term is "low carb flu". I found that when I start back up low carbing it, instead of going cold turkey, if I slowly over a few days reduce my carbs, it isn't as bad. Also drink LOTS of water those first few days!!!! It will help stave off the headaches if you do get them - not everyone does. Induction says you can't have any refined sugars, but I've tried many different artificial and natural sweeteners and can't find a single one that I like. One teaspoon of sugar is 4 carbs and a tablespoon of heavy cream is less than one carb. So I choose to use up some of my carbs for my daily cup of coffee!! If I'm out and about, and need a quick low carb meal, 2 mcdoubles from the dollar menu, remove the bun and viola! Looking to enjoy ice cream night with the fam?? Use frozen whipped cream for yourself instead (just don't eat the whole tub, 1/2 cup is good). I actually prefer it over ice cream. Salads are awesome low carb meals! Lettuce is very low carb (1 cup is 1/2 carb), top with eggs, meat, black olives, walnuts, etc and use ranch dressing. Ranch has very low carbs! Hope these tips help and any questions feel free to ask!! Miss y'all!!! Last edited by wormbutt; 12-05-2012 at 07:22 AM.. If a deaf person swears, does his mother wash his hands with soap?

Also, sorbet is a good alternative to ice cream. Sure, it is expensive, but it is made with better quality ingredients than your mainstream brands (such as Hood, Friendly's, etc.). A good deal is TJ's mango sorbet at $4.49/qt everyday. Otherwise, you're looking at least $3.49/pint in a conventional store; possibly $3 or slightly lower if on sale a pint. |

Still don't know what I am going to do
I pulled out an old Atkins diet booklet, for reference. How many carbs do you guys limit yourselves to in a day? I have had myfitnesspal on my Google for a while, but haven't used it yet. Definitely need to start paying better attention to what I'm eating. Thanks for the ideas Jenny, I do love a nice big salad for a meal, I eat them often. Just need to not use the croutons My sister just asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding.... I'm not a dress person at all!! But now I have a second reason to start something soon! Thanks for all the ideas. Solitary - how is the 17 day diet going? ISO: Dog food & treat coupons, string cheese, produce. NAPR WT's & MIR's for Anything!

drinking coffee helps... 6) you will be running to the bathroom for peeing no problem though! 7) can get expensive but manageable, cooking from scratch does end up being pretty cheap compared to eating out. 8) oh I will be weak like a welt veggie for the first few weeks as well 9) sleep like I haven't slept for days! but I love sleep so it may be normal for me ![]() Wormie, for headaches some say chicken soup broth is good because it has salt and I guess salt helps with headaches?

Gee, thanks for that list! so much to look forward too! I dont drink too much coffee, unless its full of creamer, so that might not work for me, unless I can force myself. I think I will take tomorrow and Saturday to read up on more info, make some lists of foods to keep on hand and start on Sunday. We have breakfast with Santa on Saturday, and we get the yummiest donuts ever! Also I make a killer fruit bowl major no no's for low carb! I'm a little pumped to try it, really hope to see some quick results and hope I can stick to it.I told dh tonight I want an elliptical machine, we have a treadmill, but that gets boring. Gotta check out some sales, probably smarter to wait until after the new year though. I have some kettle bells, I like those over regular weights. Just thinking about exercise makes me tired! Well the low carb diet I was on was more like the induction phase of atkins forever, so you don't reintroduce more carbs, just stick with that amount forever. When I did atkins about 8 years ago, I didn't realize that I was supposed to count net carbs so was acing most of the stuff I ate. I did lose 30 that time... and when I did it last year, I also lost 30. Unfortunately it wasn't a total of 60 from then and now haha... I gained back weight because I stopped atkins. But it took years to gain it all again. Then 7 years later, I read more about the other low carb and how I should be eating more fatty stuff to keep full because eating just carrots and ranch dip isn't going to cut it! Depending on how you set your goal, my goal was at 65% fat, 30% protein, 5% carbs per day. I will have to always do the math that my carbs are minus fiber to get the 5% You can set this up on myfitnesspal >goals>change goals> I use manual to set the percentage, but you can do the recommended also and fill in your weight you wish to lose etc and it'd change your cal intake recommendation per day. Whatever diet you choose to take on, it takes time to adjust and get used to. Whether it's the typical Standard American Diet, the Atkins, WW... you'll have to get used to the portions, counting cals, etc. I think it's all in your will to keep going. I need to get that will back for myself. With everything going on right now, it's tough. I have a presentation coming up and a final due the following week.
