Thank you all for thinking about me. I had the outpatient surgery on Monday, came home and packed, flew out on Tuesday, and spent Wednesday in our room while Tom took the kids to Magic Kingdom. Not as young as I used to be, I guess. But we all had a wonderful time.

Too much sadness this week. Some of you know that I grew up in the town next to Newtown, CT. My mom, sister, and niece and her daughter still live in Danbury. So much heartache. For those of you who may not be aware, funding for mental health services has been decimated over the past decade. Sadly, too many who suffer, and their families, have little or no support. Mental illness and substance abuse are the leading cause of death and disability in Maine, and the state has continuously defunded services for those in need, especially since the election of our current governor and this past legislature. I pray that none of us experiences a tragedy similar to what happened in Newtown.

Also, if you have not yet heard, kpark's husband passed away on Sunday. My thoughts and prayers go out to you, Kathy, and to your family. Words are not adequate....

Money for mental illnes has gone down in NH also. I transport for our state hospital and most of the group home and peer support groups/shelters have closed. There are a handful left from when I first started. It bites.

Hi everyone! I haven't posted in a while, but I do read just about everyday. My husband and I found out that we are expecting our 3rd child in May. Kind of crazy since our kids are almost 12 and 9, but we're very excited.

Does anyone in here still shop RA? I am 92 points away from gold so I'm trying to figure out what I need to do to make it by the end of the year. It used to be that you earned points for pre-tax OOP + the value of any MQs used. I haven't really shopped/couponed much there this year (my sister in law also uses my card and is the one who racked up most of the points), so I'm not sure if anything has changed. Thanks so much for any help you can give me!

I think RA has been giving credit for RA Qs and UPs as well this year, so it should be easy to get to gold.

If you have the Qs, you can do what calder suggests here.

Basically buy 2 packs of the cheapest disposables and 2 of the Proglide razors on sale for 9.99; use a BOGO disposables Q + 2 $10 off Proglide wyb disposables Qs and there are $1/1 and $2/1 Qs for the 2nd disposable. You'll get 2 $4 UPs for the Proglides, I think the limit is 2, so should be a net of close to $0 for around $40 of razors.

There are also a couple of Centrum deals in the wiki, need the diabetes book Q so ask for a diabetes pack at the pharmacy.

There's a similar deal the following week with UPs on both the razors and the disposables. Also a deal on the Keri lotion, posted in the wiki. That should get you there. Unless you don't have the Qs, but maybe your SIL does and can help.

Congrats! I still shop RA. The points are calculated on anything now except for taxes I believe, so OOP + RAQ + MQ. Oh except the usual tobacco, newspaper, GCs,etc.

Hello Everyone! I haven't really couponed much this year at all due to lots of things happening IRL. I hope to get back to it sometime next year. I did want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, though.

So sorry to hear about Kathy's husband I can not even begin to imagine what she is going through

Congrats Sandy!! I doubt I will ever get back to pre babies right before I got pregnant at 17 I was at the smallest I had ever been in my life! I gained 60 lbs with my son, never lost it all. Probably about half when 5 years later I got pregnant with my daughter, only gained about 30 with her. And now I have a whole bunch to lose we can all do it together! I only lost .6 lbs last week, kinda discouraging after 8 last week. I actually ate less, but more steak, so maybe I need to stick to more chicken rather than red meat. I'll try anything! Having a cheat weekend, but i'm not going crazy, and fully plan to go back tomorrow. And my Dad is giving me his elliptical machine!! So excited for that.

Oh don't get discouraged! First week is usually water weight is why it's sooo drastic, but the continuing weeks will slow down and then it will continually go down more and more. It happens! And eating meat vs chicken doesn't change the weight loss' progressions to either slow or fast in my experience anyways.

Made homemade peppermint marshmallows to bring in to work (and fudge and linzer cookies)....OMG. Licking warm peppermint marshmallow off the spoon may have been the best thing I've ever had.
