I haven't tested that one myself. However I know that with % coupon - when the last ecb beeps to be adjusted down and it is listed as cvs mfr coupon on receipt - then it does not affect the discount because the total remains zero, not suddenly becomes positive. So, I guess adjusting down is not the same as manually entering.

There are 4 ways to enter manually
1) scan, beep, set aside, enter manually 2) just enter manually without scanning 3) scan, beep, enter the numbers, beep again, override with manager card 4) enter the numbers, beep, override with manager card Which way was yours? I wonder if it matters. Or if maybe just scan/not scan part matters. |

That does not always work.
For example, % coupons do not work on 1the section of 10/$10 grocery items and they are regular price and without card. However, you can watch the screen at the register and if the item comes up "SALE", then it does not count. This works on these grocery items, they come up with "SALE".

The cashier can potentially manually figure the discount and add it, but definite YMMV with this. I really had to look sad and pathetic to get mine to do it. (and I don't blame them for being hesitant). With another cashier, my %off beeped (even tho it was not expired), and he made no effort to do anything about giving me the discount. |

The first one. It showed CVS MFC coupon on my receipt. Another time the manager entered an expired coupon as CVS coupon (didn't remember how she did it). Both Affect % coupon. |

I have noticed that anytime they choose the Store Coupon option to enter a coupon or ECB manually, it affects the % off coupons. Even if they enter the coupon code, even if the receipt lists it as CVS MFR COUPON, it is still treated like a CVS coupon and lowers the amount of the % off discount.
If a coupon won't scan (but is valid, not expired) and they just type in the numbers the same way a product's UPC is keyed-in if it won't scan, the system treats it the same as a regular scan and it won't interfere with the % off (assuming it's not a CVS Coupon.) Unfortunately, when something doesn't scan cashiers typically go with the Store Coupon option, I don't know why, but I doubt they'd appreciate being asked to do it the other way. Hope that made some sort of sense. ![]() BTW- To anyone who sent me a PM about this stuff over the last few weeks, I'm sorry if I didn't respond. I haven't been on here much lately but I'll be sure to start checking my messages.

This doesn't help for figuring out if something is regular price prior to buying it, but note that receipts also split sale and non-sale items into 2 different sections. I always scan my green bag tag, and non-sale items always get printed below that GBT scan, while sale items are above it with an extra empty line between the last sale item and the GBT scan (I think without the GBT scan, it still has the empty line). It's true that 10/$10 grocery items (as well as a few other similarly priced items - like 2/$1 Crystal Light packets for example, if I recall correctly) show up in the sale section rather than the non-sale section. I haven't actually tried using % Qs enough to know, but my guess is that whatever shows up above the GBT scan (and/or empty line) wouldn't count for a % Q, even if it's normally the same price without a card. Darn your inconsistencies, CVS! |
